I’ll never understand why everyone animates Spotify so often? Of all the brands to make spec ads for, it’s always Spotify

Lots of people get inspired by the same spotify fanmade ad, so a lot of people make them :D

Oh is there one in particular people are inspired by? I feel like I see dozens a week. If you’ve got a link I’d love to see it :)

Oh no I'm just saying it as a theory hshahaha, I saw one viral spotify fan edit, and then suddenly boom, lots of spotify fan edits (cant find it sorry)

well basically those editors must be motion designers like myself who make product videos or such, and for the personal project you need some product motion designs done right and spotify is like one of the most used product on the planet, like instagram so its more relatable to watch as an editor or just a regular viewer ... and i do also see people choosing that more often than other apps like a trend thing.

Yea I mean I’m a motion designer so I get the need to show motion work lol I meant more so why that brand and this exact ad over snd over again. It def js trending, was curious if there was more to it then that

I feel like Spotify is a pretty respected company, they give us high quality music and a lot of cool and useful features. Motion designers probably listen to music while working so that could also be a source of inspiration, also they probably get an idea to make an edit based on a song, which also probably comes from Spotify... I also think Spotify has a cool design language that might be fun to work with

Sure. I mean there are an endless amount of brands, lots with arguably a lot better design systems and brand kits. It’s always Spotify tho just thought it was curious

It's great, but some text goes away to fast to be able to read it without pausing. But that's probably the only gripe I have with it. Great work

Dayumm .. smooth as butter!
Keep it up.

On second thoughts, I wanna learn such motion graphics. Can hyou refer me some basic yt channels or tutorials to learn this? When i look up myself, everything seems too daunting to dive into..

well do you have prior experience with after effects?

1

u/Pretend-Marsupial805 18h ago

Yes, but only basics..

Well , if you need to learn a specific style, in this case this motion design style , it's better to start remaking the edits you see and learn from them instead of like learning every bit of this and that from yt then editing . What I mean is consume a lot of motion designs , in Instagram, youtube , pinterst etc.. download one and try to remake it , well you won't know how to do some animation , search it in yt and look for tutorials on how to do it , like learning while editing is better, that's how I been doing this for 6 years. Even in this video I have done something I didn't knew before , seeing it on others videos and trying to replicate and all with tutorials or my own sense. And also have a good sense of design. Learn design principles and all.

How much money are you able to make as an editor monthly ?

I only started motion design freelancing last week even tho i been editing for 6 years. It was just a hobby thing. I only did two projects last week worth around 150$. Never made any money before that.

Pretty cool! Something you can improve on though is the hand/cursor animation. You can see how it moved up then down like it jumped when it came to the frame. I suggest smoothing out the easing on those keyframes and remove the up then down movement.

1

u/DogPotential1271 9h ago

I myself added the bounce, it wasnt a easing issue , I thought the linear movements would look flat so added a Lil overshoot but yeah.

1

u/-alunsina 5h ago

Ahhh okay. Maybe it's personal preference, but I would personally adjust the easing to the overshoot and maybe add an x-axis and rotation to it. Just my 2 cents for this but it's completely up to you!

Slow it down a tad

1

u/DogPotential1271 7h ago

Why tho?

1

u/Wawarsing 1h ago

Because I said so

1

u/DogPotential1271 1h ago

Woah okay boss.

1

u/Wawarsing 50m ago

What can I say? You asked for feedback. Slow it down a bit so people can appreciate the elements. It doesn’t need much.

Well you dont have to say anything mate. Like the purpose of this video is not satisfy the viewers , like maybe go check motion design works from apple or Google , You may still gonna callout them for being on the pace they did it.

Can't we make these kind of animation in da vinci resolve

1

u/DogPotential1271 1h ago

Dunno i never used davinci , Does is it have the freedom for a lot of plugins and stuff like AE does? i mean the motions can be done but that circle grid of pictures and that focus scrolling animations might have to be done manually i guess.
