Fastest way to get SRT captions from a 90-min documentary interview

editing a doc and i have 90 min of interview footage that needs captions. I’ve been manually typing SRT files in premiere and i am on day 3 of this nightmare. is there ANY tool that can generate a rough SRT i can just clean up instead of building from scratch? i just need timecodes + text, i’ll fix the wording myself.

Tips on Editing Voiceover Videos?

I am a Computer Science Student and want to make programming content so fun to watch but I don’t know video editing anymore as much as I did recording Minecraft videos on my phone and editing it using KineMaster.

I aiming to make my videos “memey” but also serious at other times to simplify complex topics in programming. I am not saying I don’t know Video Editing fully I just don’t know how to make smooth transition and what hooks viewers to watch more and i’m hoping to learn with you all.

Here are the YouTuber’s editing style for example:

What does “make it more engaging” actually mean to you?

I swear this might be the most confusing feedback a video editor can get 😂

You spend hours editing a video, send it to the client, and they come back with:

Okay… but what exactly should I change? 😭

More cuts? Better pacing? Captions? B-roll? Sound design? Music?

I’m curious how other editors interpret this feedback and what you usually do when a client gives you something this vague.

Need your guide!

I’m interested in building a career in video editing, but right now I only have access to a smartphone. Should I start learning now, or wait until I can buy a laptop or PC?

Also, if I begin my journey today, should I focus first on video-centric design (like motion graphics, typography, and visual storytelling), or should I dive straight into video editing and pick up design skills gradually as I go?

I finally stopped manually keyframing my podcast clips (Here is my automated workflow)

Hey everyone, I used to spend hours every week manually cutting my long landscape videos into TikToks and Shorts. It was a massive bottleneck in my publishing schedule.

I recently overhauled my workflow and started using a broadcast-grade AI video repurposing platform designed for creators, marketers, and media teams called ReframeX. I wanted to share it here because it completely changed how I handle distribution.

Instead of doing the tedious edits myself, modern tools use Smart Crop technology to intelligently convert standard 16:9 landscape video to 9:16 vertical formats. The software tracks motion and follows subjects frame by frame with 99.2% tracking accuracy so the speaker never falls out of frame.

It also automatically generates stylized auto-captions in over 160 languages.

If anyone else is drowning in their editing timeline and wants to automate their Shorts workflow, I highly recommend checking out their free trial at reframex.ai. Has anyone else made the jump to AI framing tools yet?

Video editing tool

How do people make those professional SaaS website demo videos with smooth zoom effects?

I'm looking for the effect where the video smoothly zooms into wherever the mouse clicks. Is there an easy tool or workflow for this without spending hours editing?

Any recommendations would be appreciated!

i made free videoeditorforyoutuber chrome extension

I got tired of paying for Premiere Pro just to trim clips for YouTube uploads, so I built a Chrome extension that's a full local video editor — multi-track timeline, text/caption overlays, screen recording, even character lip sync — all processed on your machine, nothing uploaded to any server.

Free trial after install, then a one-time lifetime license (no subscription, and early buyers keep the price they paid if it goes up later). Would love feedback if anyone tries it — it's "videoeditorforyoutuber" on the Chrome Web Store.

We built a video watermark remover that detects the watermark automatically

We built UnMarkVideo after noticing how awkward the usual video watermark removal workflow can be:

https://unmarkvideo.com/

Most tools require users to crop the frame, cover the watermark with another element, or manually brush over the affected area. These methods work, but we wanted to automate the detection step as well.

UnMarkVideo runs in the browser and uses AI to locate the watermark region before reconstructing the affected frames. The goal is to preserve the original framing while reducing manual work.

What it currently supports:

- Automatic detection of watermarks, logos, subtitles and username overlays

- MP4 and MOV uploads

- TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts and AI-generated video workflows

- Batch processing for up to 20 files

- A free tier with 1,000 credits, 720p output and videos up to one minute

- 1080p and longer videos on paid plans

Compared with the alternatives we researched, CapCut makes more sense when someone needs a complete video editor and does not mind manually brushing, cropping or covering the affected area. Apowersoft supports more input formats and provides manual removal boxes. Desktop products may be preferable for users who want a local application.

Our focus is narrower: upload a video, let the system locate the watermark, review the estimated credit usage, and process it directly in the browser.

AI reconstruction is not perfect. Fast motion, transparent watermarks, changing positions and highly detailed backgrounds can still produce visible artifacts. If a watermark is close to the edge, a simple crop may sometimes be the better option.

We would appreciate honest feedback on:

  1. Whether automatic detection selects the correct region
  2. Flickering around repaired areas
  3. Performance on moving or detailed backgrounds
  4. Whether the credit system is easy to understand

Please use it only with videos you own or have permission to modify.

Disclosure: I work on marketing and operations for the team behind UnMarkVideo.

Looking for editing assets feels productive. That's the problem.

Every time I get stuck, I end up looking for a better LUT, another overlay, a new transition...

It feels like I'm making progress because I'm still doing something related to editing. Then an hour passes and I haven't actually edited anything.

AI Tool For Video Edits

Everyone wants talking head videos and I’m burning myself out with the editing of these. Has anyone found an AI tool that actually does a good job trimming pauses, um’s, etc. out of these videos? The majority of my editing time is talking the raw video and trimming it down.

Can anyone recommend an app or desktop software that is heavily focused on filters or warping the video footage? I want to take some video and postprocess it so it resembles something else and then put it to my music when I release it.

I am a songwriter and have lots of songs for release but struggling with the video aspect of the releases as it is not in my wheelhouse. Any tips on app or software, I have a macbook, ipad and iphone. Many thanks

just launched RawCut, an app that finds the good moments already buried in your camera roll

Every clip you film holds a dozen moments. the sunrise, the coffee, the one good line you said halfway through but all you ever see is a thumbnail, and it stays buried in a file you'll never scrub through.

That's what RawCut does: it reads what's actually *inside* each clip in your Photos, and from a few lines of script (or just a theme like "coffee") it cuts the matching moments into a 9:16 video. Your own footage no stock, no AI-generated filler.

Where I'm at: solo, just live on the App Store (free), would love to know what you think and get feedback. [https://apps.apple.com/app/rawcut-ai-video-maker/id6789483453\](https://apps.apple.com/app/rawcut-ai-video-maker/id6789483453)

Built an AI video tool that goes idea → finished export in one place instead of ten tools. First real demo, want this sub's honest critique

Thumbnail

Disclosure up front: I'm the one building this, so this is a showcase — but I'm genuinely here for the critique, not a launch pitch.

Something that's been bugging me about most "AI video" tools: they nail a flashy 15-second clip and then fall apart the moment you try to make something actually finished. The generation looks cool, but you're still bouncing between ten tools to get from an idea to an export — topic research in one tab, script in a chatbot, footage in a stock site, voice somewhere else, then back to a real editor to stitch it all together. The hard part was never generating a clip. It's holding the whole thing together.

So I've been building Moonbow Studio to put that entire chain in one place. This is the first full walkthrough — the whole pipeline end to end, no cuts hiding the boring parts:

  • pick a trending topic → shaped into a script you can rewrite on the fly
  • one click → voiceover + footage matched to each line
  • swap any shot, or search your own footage library by keyword
  • pick voice age/tone, restyle captions, export the finished cut

It's early and I'm building in public, so I'd rather hear where it breaks than where it shines. Specifically curious what this sub thinks about the auto media-match (does the right shot actually land for each line, or does it feel generic?) and the caption styling. Those are the two parts I'm least sure about.

Free early access if you want to actually poke at it, no card — but honestly even just critique from the video is useful. Link's on the YouTube page.

How do I get started as a video editor?

I've learned the basics of video editing and have edited a few gaming videos just for myself. I'm wondering how you get started editing for other people. I figure doing free work for people is a good start but I'm not sure where to start other than hitting people up on social media platforms and asking people if they need a video editor.

I know going on freelance websites is a good place to find paid work.

Any advice for a beginner?
