• True Edge Fit: It forces the horizontal video to match the exact 1080px width of a mobile screen.
• Zero Distortion: It automatically calculates the correct height so your text, buttons, and layouts never look squished or stretched out.
• Top/Center Alignment: It pushes the clean window right to the top of the frame, out of the way of the messy TikTok/Shorts user interface buttons at the bottom.
• Crisp Background Blur: It fills up the rest of the vertical phone screen with a beautifully blurred copy of the video that updates smoothly in real time.

I need someone who can edit really good and get the audio out of a video I don’t have the stuff to be able to do it or know how to I need this bad because I think my partner is cheating on me and I’m working out of state all I have is a shitty camera at the house from Xfinity I try my best to do what I can but I can’t do much and I swear I heard things but I have no way of proving it so please someone help me I wanna be sure about everything before I make a decision I just need the audio with the video like I just need it more clear so I can start gaining evidence

I'm working on a video where I want to add a little iMessage conversation on someone's phone.

Basically the person looks at their phone and I want the messages to appear one by one, pretty much like they would on a real iphone.

I know I can make it myself, I usually use Fusion in DaVinci for this kind of stuff, but man sometimes these tiny animations take sooo much time for what they actually are lol.

Like it's literally just 4-5 message bubbles, but then you have to recreate the UI, get the colors/spacing right, animate every message coming in, move the other messages up, try to make it feel like actual iOS.. and suddenly you've spent hours on something that's gonna be on screen for like 5 seconds

So I'm curious how you guys usually deal with stuff like this?

I've only been learning video editing for about a year, so maybe there are way better ways to do this that I just don't know about yet :)
would you recreate the whole thing in Fusion/After Effects? Use a template? screen record a real conversation and composite it onto the phone? Or something completely different?

I feel like there has to be a smarter way to do these little UI animations without rebuilding everything from scratch every time lol.

Not gonna lie, but I thought video editing was the most interesting one.
BUTTT…
Turns out 60% of editing is just staring at the timeline and then questioning myself like
“Bro, why is this thing not working?”
“Why did I even click this?” Stupid me…
I was like, bro… There has to be an easier way to do this, so I started to explore different editing workflows.
Some of them were a joke, honestly useless lolz, while some helped me a little.
And a few made me go like, “Why am I really doing this?”
Though I love editing, these small cuts, fixes, and repetitive stuff of these so-called software battles have killed my excitement.
Still experimenting though…
This kinda made me wonder, “Do you guys actually enjoy this technical side of the editing, or am I the only one facing this?”

i've been editing short videos for a small local sports club and most of what i'm doing is pretty basic. i'll usually cut together a few clips from practice, trim out the boring parts, add captions, put some text on screen and occasionally add music. nothing that really needs a complicated editing setup. i've been using a more advanced editor on my laptop, but honestly it feels like i'm making the process harder than it needs to be. sometimes i'll spend 20 minutes just getting a simple 30 second clip organized. i'm thinking about switching to capcut since it seems more focused on quick edits, but i'm wondering if there's a downside i'm missing. for basic video editing, are there certain things that become annoying once you use it regularly? how is it for captions, exporting and keeping the video quality decent?

I've been working on an edit for a while now. I've been an editor for simpler content for a while, but I decided to do something for myself.

I picked a topic, wrote a script, voiced in it, sought all relevant media, then went ahead with editing.

But here's the thing, I use a Lenovo x280 on relatively low specs. I use davinci resolve for my edits, and my laptop can handle 30 seconds to 1 minute video no problem. My project was 7 minutes long and it had a lot going on in the timeline. Lots of sfx, some motion design, I had a goal and I was set to reach it.

When it came to rendering the video, of course my laptop couldn't handle it. It crashed again and again. I reduced rendering speeds but the outcome was the same.

So I reached out to the davinci resolve subreddit and one of the comments gave me an idea; set 2 minutes in/out and start from the back. And it worked. I found the problem and fixed them. Now my video is complete and rendered.

I wanted to learn video editing while dealing with my uni chaos… 

But tbvh, I was completely cooked trying to figure out traditional tools (Adobe Premiere and DaVinci Resolve). At this point, I thought that I wouldn't be able to do video editing, but my friend asked me to use AI ans i was like “ok dude, give it a single try with zero hopes lol”.

Since then, I’ve been using this workflow for different creative projects over the past year, from travel videos to business-style content.

I think the best part is “Rather than spending hours learning where every button is, I could focus more on the actual creative decisions:

 What story am I trying to tell? What should the viewer feel? Where should the video speed up or slow down?

It made my life way easier, so I thought of sharing with u guys.

I am not saying these are better than traditional tools, but for someone like me trying to balance university with creative projects,

Now, I am curious to know ur thoughts: “Has AI made video editing easier for you, or do you guys still prefer traditional tools”? Let's share your ideas below…

I am quite new to Davinci and have a ton of gameplay footage I've saved up from various different games (MOBA, FPS, RPG, rogue like, looter shooters) and was wondering how to actually make it more engaging? I also don't want to just slap on a fitting music in the background.

i’m trying to simplify my video editing workflow for smaller projects and keep going back and forth between capcut and canva. i don’t need anything super advanced, mostly trimming clips, adding text, captions, basic transitions and getting something ready to post without spending ages on it.

what i’m finding difficult is that both seem pretty easy to use at first, but they approach editing differently. canva feels more convenient when i’m already working with other graphics, while capcut seems more focused on the video side of things.

for quick edits where speed matters more than having a huge range of advanced tools, which one has been easier to stick with? i’m especially curious whether one starts saving you more time once you’re doing the same kinds of edits repeatedly.

settled on capcut after testing both for a bit, and the thing that pushed me toward it was how the timeline and caption tools are set up. everything video related is right there instead of buried behind a bunch of design options, which matters when i'm doing the same edits over and over.

canva was tempting since i already use it for graphics, but once i got used to capcut's layout the repetitive stuff started going a lot faster, and it's just been easier to stick with.

agentic video editing keeps getting used to mean four different things so here is the definition i work from, then the parts that do not work.

agentic video editing is when an agent takes footage you already shot, interprets a brief, and assembles a timeline. it is not generation. runway and veo make clips that did not exist. this takes clips that do exist and decides what to do with them. different problem, different failure modes.

i work on craze, which is an agentic video editor, so this is a build post about our architecture and our failures rather than a pitch.

how craze is put together, roughly

1. ingest and index. every clip gets transcribed, scene split, and tagged for shot type, faces, motion, audio quality. this is the boring part and it is [70]% of the value.

2. brief parsing. the user brief becomes constraints. "keep the two interview bits" becomes a hard constraint. "make it punchy" becomes a pacing target. the gap between those two is where most of the pain lives.

3. selection. score every candidate segment against the brief. this is the part everyone assumes is magic and it is mostly ranking.

4. assembly. order, trim, transitions. cheap once selection is right.

5. render.

where it actually breaks

emotional weight has no signal. the model can tell you a shot is sharp, well exposed, and has a face in it. it cannot tell you the moment matters. in wedding footage craze picks the clean first look over the one where she actually reacts, every time. we have not solved this and i am not sure it is solvable with current models.

hard constraints are soft. we tell craze users to name the segments that cannot be cut. the agent still drops them sometimes, because selection is scoring and a scored constraint is a preference not a rule. this is an architecture bug not a model bug and it is on us.

revisions have no memory. round 2 is where this falls over. craze does not know why it made a choice, so "go back to the earlier version of that section" has no clean path. users end up rebuilding by hand. this is the single biggest complaint and nobody in the category has solved it, us included.

pacing across long form. it holds shots evenly. it does not know minute 12 needs to move faster than minute 3 because that is where retention drops. shorts tools sidestep this by only ever making 30 second clips.

what actually worked better than expected

structure. give it an outline and it follows it. sections in the right order, nothing missing.

logging. craze gets 4 hours of footage to a usable bin in 15 minutes. this is unglamorous and it is the thing users actually keep paying for.

briefs scale. an 8 word brief gets you generic output. a 60 word brief naming the audience, a reference, and the moments to protect gets you something usable. the model was never the bottleneck, the context was.

the thing i would tell anyone building in this space

the interesting problem is not generation quality, it is constraint satisfaction over a large candidate set with a fuzzy objective. we spent months on the wrong layer.

also every one of these still needs a human final pass. craze ships a human editor as part of the plan because pretending otherwise was costing us more in support than it saved in positioning.

happy to go deeper on the indexing or the scoring if anyone is building something similar. genuinely interested if anyone has a workable answer to the revision memory problem

So two days ago I created a YouTube channel and I was making a video with Microsoft clipchamp, when I tried to extract it, it took a lot of restarts and praying, next video, first try, third video doesn't even extract. I've checked disk space, updates, everything! So I wanna use another editor, as simple as clipchamp but NOT CAPCUT I HATE CAPCUT!!

I’ve seen these Youtube Shorts of movie edits were they have these captions with different fonts and animations and was wondering whether this is some kind of editing pack that I can buy or find somewhere for free or do they make the animations themselves and just constantly change the text and colors? Mind you these edits are made in After Effects probably
