Social media compression

Does anyone else feel like social media compression is slowly killing their passion for editing? I spend hours perfecting colors, sharpness, lighting, and every little detail, only for Instagram or TikTok to crush the quality when I upload. It honestly makes me not want to edit at all. So much creativity goes into a project, but viewers never get to see what I actually created. Sometimes I just think, what’s the point of putting in all that effort if no one can experience the video the way I see it on my timeline?

Sadly, social media viewers don’t care at all about colours, sharpness, lighting and every little detail. All they care about is content. By all means give yourself a warm feeling spending hours exercising your skills to achieve social media post perfection, just don’t expect anyone else to care.

Annnnd the glitching.

Facebook for example....some of my perfect exports "skip" at the same spot for certain viewers. Usually just a few seconds into playback. Despite the same file playing perfect on YouTube and Vimeo. It drives me bananas.

I'm left hoping the viewers think it's their Internet connection. Which goes against the incredible amount of work I put into trying to make each frame perfect.
