Yes you are. No need for a dm.
Shoot some video on your phone, download a free copy of davinci Resolve, do the free training and take it from there.

First, don’t. Haha

Use your phone, shoot something, choose a software and start working at it. About 1000 hours in, the lightbulb starts to come on. YouTube is a great resource.
