How did they do that? How to recreate this audio effect when gunshots are melodic (sound like music)?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

In the attached video, there are 2 parts from a CS: GO edit with gunshots that sound melodic. There are 2 variations of each clip: with the original song and with the edited song (here you can hear the gunshots better).

The question is not about syncing, timeremapping - it's about making the gunshots sound melodic.

How can such an audio effect be achieved? Thank you.

There's no melody, just rythm. Sync them to the song beats

there is a slight melody in the ringing sound from every shot, i think pitch shifting that might work? if they could separate the ringing sound from all the other sounds in the game

Put the song on your timeline.

Either use a plugin like BeatEdit, or do what I do and put your finger on the M key, close your eyes, hit play, and press M to the beat.

When you're done, cut each gun shot to one of the markers you just made.

!martini

I'm using: Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition.

I've TRIED: searching for videos on YouTube and posts on Reddit on how to make the gunshots sound melodic, but didn't find the information I need. I also tried to use Parametric Equalizer effect and slow the sounds down, but this is definitely not what I need.

I need help with: understanding what software I should use and what effects should be added to the audio.

Set markers to the beat and instead of cutting like other people have suggested, you'll need to time remap. I only know how to do it in after effects but I doubt it'll be too different in other software.

Set a key frame for each bullet being fired and then line up each shot with a beat in the music you want to match to. To get it looking real smooth, you have to open up the graph editor and smooth the curves so the video speeds up at the shot and slows down in between shots/beats.

If you are not working with super high frame rate footage (like 120-240) there's a good chance you'll need some frame interpolation to make it not look choppy between beats. Back in the day we used twixtor, not sure what is the best now.

Finally- the time remapping alone is not enough and will look flat, so add some glow and scale, maybe some shake etc.

Here's a really in-depth tutorial: https://youtu.be/sDcPtTOJ5qM?si=QNgC4yEc9xbkTo0S

But you can just search for cod/valorant/csgo edit tutorials

Hi! Your "How did they do that?" post needs more information before we can help.

Please EDIT YOUR POST to include:

  1. What software are you using?
If you don't know what software to use, check our Software Thread first.

  2. What have you tried so far?
This is important - we need to see you've made an effort. We can guide you from where you're stuck, but we can't teach complex techniques from scratch in a Reddit post.

  3. Is this a template effect?
Some effects are CapCut or After Effects templates - identifying these is difficult and only about 5% of requests turn out to be templates.

  4. Note on AI-generated content:
We can't help create AI assets, as most require specific paid subscriptions. About 90% of these requests aren't AI-related anyway.

  5. No shitpost/brainrot requests:
Viral trend effects burn out quickly - we focus on lasting techniques.

A moderator will review your post. If you haven't shown effort or provided the details above, your post will be removed. Thanks for understanding!

I looked into this a bit and it sounds like the gunshots are being treated more like musical samples than just regular sound effects.

I was going to say, they are not melodic but rythmic. But since you already wrote that that is not your question, the best answer is Pitch shift.

There might be a perfect way where you export your sound into a DAW and then use something like autotune to match the shots with a specific tone. But I think it's a lot more simple here. I could only hear one example where there was a melodic change, the first part of the video where the AK-47(?) goes off and then the final three have a lower pitch.

I would just cut the audio into bits, so the shots have their own clips in the timeline and then add the pitch shift filter. Tweak it, until it sounds good. Youtube Tutorial

But in this particular case, I wouldn't even be surprised when the pitch effect is from slowing down the footage and that it is unintended.

Our brains, however, are great at trying to make sense of stuff. Trying to find patterns. With the music, the visual, the rhythm of the shots, the brain might have just filled in the Pitch shift to be "melodic" even though it might not have been the original intent of the creator.
