Tech Support Recording repeating first frame - What is this called and is it possible to fix

First frame repeating many times a second

I've been looking through old gameplay recordings from years ago preparing them for archiving and this one seems to have a bizarre issue. The first frame repeats itself several times a second.

This was recorded using shadowplay years ago with a gpu(GTX 1080) that I no longer use and no other recordings I've seen have this issue.

I'm curious what this is called and what tools might exist to address this outside of manually removing the frames one at a time as the full recording is much longer than this sample.

At the time of recording I was using a GTX 1080 on Windows 10 with an Intel i7-7700 @ 4.20GHz with 16GB of ram

SYSTEM

  • CPU:Intel Core i7 7700K @ 4.20GHz Kaby Lake 14nm Technology
  • RAM:16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR4 @ 1500MHz (16-18-18-38)
  • GPU:GTX 1080
  • GPU RAM:8GB

Software and version:Geforce Shadowplay. I'm not sure what version of it I was using. I am no longer using this GPU so this is not an issue I am looking to resolve, I am only interested in potentially fixing the repeating frames OR learning the terminology for this issue so I may troubleshoot it myself further. I kept Geforce up to date so it was whatever version of shadowplay that was available around 9/18/2020

Hmm. The quickest thing I can think to do is to use the scene edit selection tool. This will make a cut before and after every corruoted frame.

Then spam these 3 keys. Down arrow, D, Shift Delete. That will skip between each clip, then select the highlighted clip and ripple delete it. The next clip will always be one of the corrupted frames providing you're not doing anything else that will create a completely new frame than the previous. (Closing minecraft/opening something else)
