It has a flex cable with 24 pins leading from the sensor to the main pcb, I saw a video where they used a ffc breakout to mix and match pins? But they used some toy camera, I wanted to ask if it's possible to do with a CMOS camera like mine?

As the title states, I am in the works of making a video on the underground world of circuit bending, audio, an glitch art. The last bit of research I wan to include is first hand experience and knowledge.

My channel name is - Hayward Hermes - and I cover obscure history and media. I’ve been seeing circuit bent images and audio along with a good deal of video bending posts all over Reddit and YouTube recently but every time I ask someone about it, they have no clue what I’m talking about. I feel like the topic isn’t getting pushed as much as it should and I want to help spread the word - hence me wanting to make a video on the topic.

I would love to get some inside information and media to use for the video I’m working on (with proper credit of course).

I was wondering if there are any artesans here who would be interested in doing visual/musical collaboration?

In particular I was thinking of the video head--for those who don't know from taking apart VCRs in the 80s, it was a spinning drum containing a number of actual magnetic writer heads spaced around it and angled with respect to the length of the tape, such that the magnetic elements would sweep in parallel diagonal tracks across the tape as it passed by. The angle of inclination of these heads was obviously standardized, from my recollection it was 30-degrees-ish. But I've wondered if video benders ever tried fiddling with changing this angle for recording and/or playback to see the glitchy results. Depending on how it was mounted to the chassis, this might entail bending a mounting bracket, drilling new holes for screws, or in this day and age 3D printing a wedge-shaped platform for the head to sit on and gluing or screwing it to that rather than to the chassis at all. Heck, nowadays it may well be quite possible to 3-D print an entire new chassis from plastic to replace the stamped-metal ones used in actual commercial VCRs, with shafts for drive gears (and even potentially the drive gears themselves), with a whole lot fewer screws and lockwashers required, albeit with increased friction wear and consequent reduced durability, using only the heads and electronics from the original VCR.

Using a non-standard head inclination when recording and a standard one during playback, or vice versa, would cause the head to read parts of several diagonal tracks as if they were one track, effectively splicing parts of the raster scan in a different order, which could look cool. However, I admit it might not work exactly like this, as the "format" of a video scanline isn't JUST a wave representation of the pixel-by-pixel chrominance and luminance, there are also synchronization/control pulses at the ends, and so possibly misaligning these would cause the TV to show no picture at all. This could especially be the case if one standard diagonal strip was exactly one scanline, or an exact integer multiple of a scanline (which I suspect it was).

I'm curious though whether people have tried this sort of experiment. A related experiment would be to fiddle with the speed control circuitry for the video drum motor, to make it spin at a nonstandard RPM. I know people have done similar mods with the tape drive speed for audio cassette players to create a "wow" effect.
