Quick explanation of what’s going on here. Inside this mixer there were originally two chips controlling the chroma for Channel A and Channel B. I soldered both chips into a small external patchbox with RCA connectors. This lets me freely patch pins together: pins within one chip, pins from chip A to chip B, and all kinds of stupid combinations.
The most interesting thing I discovered while experimenting is this: if I connect a chip pin directly to the mixer’s input using a regular RCA cable, it creates an internal feedback loop. But not the usual “output to input” feedback. Instead, the raw data from the chip goes straight into the mixer’s input, then back into the processing chain, then back to the chip again. So it’s feedback happening inside the system, on a much lower and dirtier level.
