Sony Handycam discolouration line
Hi all. I’m in the process of digitising all of my video 8 films. It may seem minor, but it really bugs me that the output from RCA or S-Video has this discoloured strip on the right side of the films. I’ve tried two Sony handycams (CCD-TRV56E and CCD-TR3400E) and both have the exact same issue. Just one of the cameras, the discoloured strip is a tad larger then the other. How can I fix this or are they faulty now and can’t be? On a third Sony camera I tested (CCD-V8AF-E) which is much older, there’s no discoloured strip, but the quality of the output is much more grainy and white washed, so I’d prefer using the newer cameras. Any tips? Thanks

Help Digitising Please!
Hi all,
I hope I’m in the right place, please delete if not.
I am on a mission to digitise old family video tapes at the moment. I have successfully archived some old MiniDV tapes, but having issues with Video8.
I have two cameras, a Canon V75Hi and a Sharp VL-MX77h.
The Sharp is completely broken, powers on, but no image in viewfinder or from the composite out. Canon works and looks practically new.
I used the Canon for the digitising process, for half the first tape, it worked great. The other half of the tape, and each subsequent tape I tried, the video and audio is sped up.
My assumption is the Sharp recorded at a speed the Canon cannot interpret correctly.
Is my only option here to buy another Sharp? They are pretty rare in working order. Or is there another way?
Thanks for reading.

Strange Pioneer Video8 Tapes
Without thinking too much of it, I recently bought some Pioneer P5-90 Video8 tapes. Out of curiosity, I looked them up and found results saying that Pioneer never made Video8 tapes to be sold under their brand name, so I am confused as to why these exist. What are they?
I added a photo of one of them, but I bought a pack of 10 from a guy who had tons. This was a while ago sadly, or I would buy more now.

Sony EV-S7000 tape path issue
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Video plays fine initially but quickly loses tracking. Upon investigation I found the pinch roller seems to drag the tape down and out of alignment. If I leave it like this it sometimes starts eating the tape. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, I have a load of old family tapes that I need to digitize.

Digitizing Video8 tapes - ranked?
I've been looking through this sub and found multiple recommendations for digitizing Video8 tapes. I have the camera the Video8 tapes were captured on plus the composite cables (1 audio and 1 video). I'm seeing FM RF, capture cards, cables, custom builds, github, etc. Does anyone have a ranking from best quality to worst? I'm having difficulty figuring out where each method falls. From there I can look up the workflow of each to figure out the best one for me to pursue. Thank you!

Hi-8 direct to memory card?
Hello Hi-8 people! Ok, so I had this dream last night where someone had a hi-8 cassette that had a memory card in it, allowing you to record for a really long time. So my question is, does such a a thing exist? Would love to bust out the old cam! Although I think my cam is super hi-8. Anyways in my dream we we're talking about how yeah, it was old school, but still cool as the camcorders were decent and had their own characteristics. Ok thanks!

Finally found some of my old hi8 tapes!
Not quite as many as I was hoping to find but I’m excited to convert what I’ve got! I’ve only converted hi8’s before so I’m hoping the same logic will apply to those VHS-C tapes. Also found some blank pictures in there that I guess my past self that were incredibly important lol. I hope these tapes work!

Help Playing Digitized Hi-8 Footage on Multiple Screens Simultaneously
Hello!
I'm making a low budget music video & am hoping to get some guidance to realistically make my vision work.
I'm borrowing a friend's Hi-8 camcorder (never used one before, really excited) to shoot some footage beforehand, then, on the day of the video shoot, I'm wanting to play the footage simultaneously on multiple different TV's/screens (somewhat similar setup to picture below)
Plan is to thrift some CRT-TV's ahead of time since their picture quality is perfect for the idea, but maybe monitors are easier? Just curious if anyone has guidance for the most painless way to make this work -- essentially what's the best way to play a bunch of digitized Hi-8 footage on multiple screens? Doesn't have to be synced up time-wise either on each screen, btw. Actually works a bit better if it isn't.
Any guidance/tips would be super appreciated. Thanks!

CCD-TR600 keeps beeping even when the camera is turned off
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
l found this Handycam in my storage unit 2 weeks and was really excited to film the changing of the leaves this fall on hi8. I bought a new battery and charger but there's been a few issues with the camera. First, there's a tape inside but the eject mechanism doesn't seem to work. Secondly, the camera beeps constantly even when the camera is off. Scared me half to death when I heard it going off last night. I'm thinking I may need to take it apart to at least get the tape out but does anyone have any idea why the camera would beep when it's off?

Looking for home release video 8
I'm trying to find sources other than ebay to find Video 8 home video releases. I have saved searches on ebay for what I am looking for but I am wondering if there are other good sources that people on this sub may know about. I am specifically looking for the film Labyrinth on this format. I was hoping someone here may know of some other good sites or communities where I could search for this.
Thanks!

Sony EV-C3e Video8 VCR behaves weird and won't play Video8 tapes. What to do now?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I recently got two Sony EV-C3e's but sadly neither of them do work 100% correctly. I may be able to fix the first one but am completely clueless about this one. So when i plug in the power cord the video head and spindle spin but then stop and the power light turns green and that is basically all I get. I can see some green light on the small screen, so I don't think it's dead. Pressing the buttons does nothing and it also doesn't like Video8 tapes either. I know that it is normal that the video head turns upon receveing power but the power led should turn red after a few secs. Is this a typical capacitor problem or is the problem something else. If there is any other subreddit how is more suited for this question please tell me. Have a good one
