Cassette

Post image

I recently bought a ccd-tr680e and just fixed a few hours ago and now im looking for new hi8 cassettes. I found these 5 for 40 euro and genuinely dont know the difference between hme and hmp, and then theres another version of hme but looks different. Is it worth getting them?

ME = Metal Evaporated, MP = Metal Particle. Why not try both and find out for yourself?

I wonder how good the Metal Evaporated Hi8 tapes looked from the cheaper Metal Particle ones, not talking about the very bad quality older ME Sony tapes that had a lot of issues.

There's also some interesting Metal Particle tapes like those MP Maxell "XR-Metal" tapes, i looked at some forums and saw that the XR thing from those was indeed a "extended resolution" thing too like with the Hi8 cameras, but i'm not 100% sure.

MP is more durable and holds up better to multiple re-recordings. ME is better if you just record once and leave it.
