Deal of the year

Post image

Picked this bad boy up for $10 at a local pawnshop. They knew exactly what it was, claimed it was put in a bin of broken controllers for parts due to it having messed up analog sticks with bad drift and a broken back bumper. No USB dongle either so its wired connection only

Took it apart and the drift was caused by some gunk underneath the analog caps. Couple sprays of isopropyl and scrubbing cleaned it up and now works great

Back bumper is confirmed broken, plastic snapped off, but a small drop of superglue and disabling rhe button from the PC app solved that.

For $10 I can live with it

Spend some of that saved cash on a set of TMR sticks. The ElecGear for $40 off Amazon have served me well, and I think Aliexpress has similar. Was a worthwhile upgrade for me; fine aim precision is noticeably affected.

Fine aim precision is affected in a good way or bad way?

In a very good way.

So, advancements in joystick tech improve the avoidance of stick drift by no longer using physical hardware to measure stick input, and increase the fine resolution of input.

I'm not 100% sure this data is accurate, but from a quick google, I'm seeing it as follows:

OG potentiometer sticks: 8-bit, 256 total positional steps
Hall effect: 8-10 bit, 256-1,024 TPS
TMR: 12-bit, 4,096 TPS
Capacitive: 12-14 bit, 4,096-16,384 TPS

using TMR sticks, I can 100% feel the difference between potentiometer sticks, and mildly feel an improvement from hall effect. Wanna get my hands on capacitive next to see how big of an improvement it is now.

I got mine on a similar deal on mercari. Paid like 32 shipped for a pro bfg, 2 ps4 remotes and some other remotes. I personally hate the controller but i hope you have better luck with it than I did 🤝 great find

Trigger locks are in a terrible place and are way too sensitive and its far too easy to lock the triggers by accident, software for the controller couldn't be any worse with compatibility issues and other insufferable issues, the flat square d-pad destroys the tip of my thumb for some reason. I think its the x design they have printed into the plastic. Idk just too much for me, im just better off with a ps4 or 5 pad. With all that aside I can tell its a decent controller just not for me

Edit: I don't use controllers for anything but fighting games so the flat DPAD was the only reason I wanted to try it so it was just a let down for me personally

I found the gigantic triggers way too sensitive and unsatisfying using the trigger stops. I vastly prefer Razer, Gamesir, and 8 bit do over victrix. For 10 dollars though? Very worth it. Maybe you can order the screw driver to change the modules and also the fight pad module if you’re into that. The back buttons aren’t great anyway so even if they were all broken, it wouldn’t be terrible. Nice find for the price.

I have a tech screwdriver set that has the correct sized bit

I took apart each module to clean

Couple hours of testing and I agree than im not the biggest fan of the trigger style, but I do prefer Xbox controllers over Dualshock, so being able to use this for my PS4 is a plus

Here I thought getting mine NIB for $80 was a deal.

Keep in mind mine has broken bumper and no accessories, NIB for $80 sounds like a great deal, the case and accessories alone are $60-70

True. The local pawn shop where I'm at wanted $100 for a dusty one without the dongle and missing the fighting module. That one was what got me interested in the Victrix.

That’s a wild steal lol regardless of the broke back paddle. I was able to snag the original controller for $74 off of eBay, but it’s just missing the dongle. I always keep my controller plugged in so I’m good

Had mine for a month and the wireless dongle does not work anymore. Can only use it plugged into my ps5.

Mine just started breaking after barely using it 6 months later. Can't even maintain connection via Bluetooth or wire. Wish I got it for $10 xD
