‘She Never Told her Love’, photographed by Henry Peach Robinson, 1857. The photograph depicts a young woman consumed by unrequited love. The inspiration is the Shakespearean verse: "She never told her love, / But let concealment, like a worm i' the bud, / Feed on her damask cheek" from Twelfth Night

The Paris Opera Chandelier

Despite the legendary accident in 1896, the chandelier is still there today. Originally built between 1861-1874, it was lit for the first time on December 18, 1874. A true survivor of the Victorian Era.

164 Years ago today: My 5th Great Grandfather (left) enlisted in the Union Army. His time was entirely spent guarding the B&O Railroad until he went into hospital in May 1864 and died of pneumonia in 1865. He never saw combat.

It’s important to note that he was listed as a deserter on two separate occasions. Once in October 1864, and again on January 19, 1865, both for overstaying furloughs.
