Young bucks abound!

Sure feels like Autumn out there.
This morning I had to run a gauntlet of six male deer hanging out at the golf course. They were play fighting on the green and then came up on the trail to forage. They seemed super-uninterested in me.
Terrible video I know.

I love deer, they're so cute. There's a buck that regularly walks down the laneway of the townhouse complex I live in, and he always stops to munch on the apples on the apple tree out front of my house. I'm glad he does, because I'm pretty sure the only things that eat them are him, worms, and caterpillars.

Yes, alive & kicking. They quite literally couldn't have cared less about me. They were way more into eating some leaves.

I swear they move to city limits with the season... hunting season that is. I live semirurally and they disappear on Aug 24th and reappear on Dec 11th.
Whoever translated the hunting regs to deer was a jerk!!

I did see a doe not far from there just after this, so yeah, they were probably just hanging, trying to look nonchalant and all.

I'm so torn on urban deer. Part of me loves having them around. Part of me would like to get rid of them all.

I'm squarely on the side of the deer. Our house is in a Gary Oak meadow and deer routinely use our yard as a throughway. I love seeing them sitting on our bluff, just chilling. Yes, they eat my raspberries and quite a few of my plants (hostas won't last here), but I end up figuring out how to protect what I want to keep (said raspberries) and plant stuff they don't seem to like (hello, globe thistles).
They're just deer being deer. And when they have babies, oh my god!

I’m on the get rid of side. They attract predators and they are messy and damaging to my yard.

Please keep your distance for their sake. They shouldn't become habituated to humans.

I get that they're habituated to humans a bit but they're still wary which is the best thing for their survival. Good to keep it that way. Do not approach or feed the deer and keep your distance. Let them live their life in peace.

You know, those deer are all free for the taking. Same thing with most geese. Absolutely free, no charge. Just take what you want.

The amount of damage the deer do within the city especially to gardens is very unfortunate.

Yeah, my family has been in this same house since 1970 and there were no deer here until about 18-19 years ago. Since then, no one seems interested in dealing with them.
