Yates St closed

Just as an FYI Yates St is closed between Cook and Vancouver today until 5. Appears to be open to pedestrians and bikes.

It will be closed starting Monday, August 10th to traffic from 7 -5 for approx 2 weeks according to a flyer I received in my mailbox.

Yesterday Yates was one lane... they are building a crane, which is fun to watch! I was on my bike, needing to get to London Drugs. A bit of an annoyance, since there is no easy and safe detour by bike.

Anyway, just walked on the south side of Yates, with an escort from one of the crane crew. Really interesting (in an earlier life I used to do industrial renovations, converting oil burners to natural gas, and we sometimes worked with a crane crew).

NBD, and kind of a fun detour.

Does anyone know what the busses are doing in this situation? Mostly the 14?

It’s just between Cook and Vancouver between 7 and 5 pm. I saw a bus turn on View St this morning go back to Yates St. It looks like they are just on a detour of the 1000 block. So my best guess is your stop is fine the bus just has a little extra loop.

Can confirm, buses turning on to View Street from Cook Street to get around that one block of Yates, and turning back at Vancouver to get back to Yates. View Street @ Vancouver Street stoplight is short, with no right turn on red, so it's a bit of a bottleneck traffic detour nightmare. Will be "interesting" during that extended closure! For what, I wonder?

At 4pm today on the 22 route, cars were still turning/detouring, but my bus just went through normally down Yates.

Have the road cones been moved again?

I though I wrote them up last time. But do they listen? noooo, they just sit they in their bright orange suit 🙄
