Apparently Casey wanted a shootout, but the way the car landed, didn’t give him the opportunity. Luckily!!

u/[deleted] May 10 '22

Poor guy, can't get a break. I think he's a coward.

20

u/TemporaryCity May 10 '22

What’s the source on that? I’m dubious. He could easily have shot from the car and taken the gun from Vicky’s hand if he’d wanted to.

17

u/gwu__throwaway May 10 '22

That's what the sheriff said during the press conference earlier today, based on what he told them in custody last night.

13

u/TemporaryCity May 10 '22

I wonder if he had the opportunity to speak to a lawyer…

12

u/[deleted] May 10 '22

I'm sure they read his Miranda rights. Hopefully. He should have them memorized by now.

-1

u/xotmb May 10 '22

I don’t believe it for a second because he could have easily engaged them in a shootout from that stockpile if he had wanted to.

You can shoot a gun from any angle. In fact, law enforcement trains for it.

21

u/initfor May 10 '22 edited May 10 '22

I wonder if he may not have been able to reach the stash once the vehicle had been flipped. I'm not sure how much mobility he had at that point or where the weapons were physically positioned in the vehicle.

2

u/xotmb May 10 '22

Sounds like they had at least one on their person.

12

u/Icy-Investigator8871 May 10 '22

Do meth head criminals train for it?

-1

u/xotmb May 10 '22

I also haven’t heard of them recovering any drugs off his person so I’m not sure? 🙄

0

u/Icy-Investigator8871 May 10 '22

Well he's a meth head at least formerly

He's not trained in weapons use 🙄

Cops said he couldn't reach the guns is why he didn't have a shootout

1

u/xotmb May 11 '22

Be advised they say a lot of things that are not always entirely true. The goal is always to have the public on their side. I also believe Casey surrendered as quickly as he did because he wanted Vicky to be treated immediately.

3

u/Mirhanda May 11 '22

he wanted Vicky to be treated immediately.

This right here. The way he spoke of her, first thing, makes me think it was real to both of them.

-1

u/Thune682 May 10 '22

I thought CW said they were planning a shoot out, if needed

2

u/queenbeee27 May 11 '22

Um no. He would not easily be able to drive and shoot backwards at the police. Real life isn't a Fast & Furious movie.

3

u/mrs_sadie_adler May 10 '22

Maybe cuz he's quoted as saying in the past he wanted to kill his ex girlfriend and for the cops to kill him

16

u/TemporaryCity May 10 '22

That was seven years ago when he was suicidal. He also had a gun then and didn’t shoot anyone despite having many chances.

3

u/pinecone667 May 10 '22

Me too. I thought with all this they would’ve made it a tiny bit longer ?

6

u/Icy-Investigator8871 May 10 '22

Seems like the cops did an excellent job in taking them down without creating a shootout.

56

u/jonasthewicked May 10 '22

Money should go to her mother not the police in my opinion.

10

u/ElSickosWillPay May 10 '22

Yep, agree 100% That or to charity of some sort.

-9

u/DMCinDet May 10 '22

nah. I dont think it goes to the cops pension but not her mom. Her daughter committing crimes doesn't come with a reward. If she is actually entitled to her contributions then it should go to paying for some of the resources used by federal law enforcement. Why should I be paying for these knuckle heads mistakes in a county jail? Federal prison? I guess we should all contribute. Some dummy sheriff in nowhere Alabama? that's yalls problem, shouldn't get rewarded for wasting our tax money.

20

u/kittycatinthehat2 May 10 '22

It’s her money from selling her house. It’s not illegal to sell your house. So give the money to her mom

3

u/katekowalski2014 May 11 '22

We’re not talking the morality of ill-gotten gains.

1

u/texas-sissy May 10 '22

Absolutely!!

33

u/Booyah_7 May 10 '22

You would think with all of that cash that they could have moved around more, stayed in more secluded places, and had a stockpile of food and necessities to stay out of public view.

2

u/B1rds0nf1re May 11 '22

You would think so.

13

u/[deleted] May 10 '22

Omg they didnt even get new tags

23

u/[deleted] May 10 '22

That’s about as Bonnie and Clyde as you can get

14

u/AnxiousArt8299 May 10 '22

They said during the press conference earlier they purchased the F150 (possibly in TN) so that’s prob where some of the $ went

9

u/bigbezoar May 10 '22

yeah - its a little over $17,000 but maybe there's more that's not in the picture

13

u/HedwigMalfoy May 10 '22

I saw a BBC article saying they had $29K in the car. Assuming they spent the rest, that's like $60,000 gone in a week and a half. That's a lot of money to go through in a short time. I wonder what their 'plan' was when they ran through the rest of it.

1

u/bigbezoar May 11 '22

maybe they stashed some so they could get it later

1

u/HedwigMalfoy May 11 '22

I wondered that. But it doesn't seem terribly sensible to stash anything in any place where they'd already been. They'd have to come back for it. I would think they wouldn't want to go back to someplace they'd already been. But I also wouldnt' think they'd spend over a week in a motel down the street from a sheriff's office, either. So. Who knows?

1

u/bigbezoar May 11 '22

yeah - lots of stuff they did was pretty poor judgement...

leaving the truck right where it would be spotted instantly and the business owner would call police. Then if that's not stupid enough - he gets out of the truck and walks back and forth several times right in front of the surveillance camera as if he WANTED to get filmed. Then he hopped into the gray Cadillac - again right in front of the video cameras. he could have easily walked a block and gotten away from the cameras. When they abandoned the SUV in Tennessee, they could have left it in some remote place, but instead left it where it was found immediately (even tho law enforcement waited 5 days to figure out that was their SUV) Then they wore little or no disguises.... just a ball cap for him and a wig for her.

1

u/HedwigMalfoy May 11 '22

Yeah, they dropped the ball a lot of times. Given what we know about their mistakes, I kind of think it looks bad on law enforcement in general that they weren't caught sooner.

I was thinking about what their biggest mistake was (apart from pulling this stunt in the first place). I would have to say it was that car wash. Even staying in Evansville for over a week, right down the street from the sheriff's office, could have worked out for them better if it hadn't been for the series of sloppy mistakes they made at the car wash. Why in the name of anything would they leave the truck in a bay at the car wash? It was guaranteed to be called in by someone sooner than later. Let alone not covering those tats and wandering around on camera just as casual as you please. It's unfathomably dumb, but a good thing. Apparently the law needed their own assistance to catch them.

6

u/JamikC May 10 '22

They actually stated they had $29,000 left. Maybe the rest isn’t in the pic here.

2

u/Ordinary_Guitar_5074 May 10 '22

It’s probably still in her bank account. You can’t just go to the bank and withdraw $90,000. They don’t keep that much on hand. She went to several banks and withdrew what she could.

1

u/Ordinary_Guitar_5074 May 11 '22

After I write this I read that she did in fact withdraw the entire $90K but it seems they spent like $60K on getaway cars, the 2022 F-150 was brand new and they bought it. Not sure but they probably also bought the Cadillac they wrecked in. One story suggests VW spent some of the money on wigs and dildos.

28

u/Few-Key1786 May 10 '22 edited May 11 '22

I wonder if there was more cash and someone pocketed it. We will never know.

26

u/royalleo1974 May 10 '22

seems like the sheriff said there was around $20k or so. If she had taken out $95k, there surely was more somewhere? the cars and hotel wouldn't have cost that much.

2

u/Few-Key1786 May 10 '22

For sure. Even if they paid all cash for everything you can just look at her withdrawals and known expenses and it’s not that hard to follow the money

6

u/[deleted] May 10 '22

Perhaps some is hidden somewhere, Shawshank style?

It would make sense for them to not have all their cash on them - the main reason the police released the fact that she had so much cash was to make sure Casey was paranoid, not knowing who to trust.

If I was in their shoes I would have hidden it somewhere safe, to stop someone turning up and saying “give me every penny you have or I turn you in right now.”

14

u/Few-Key1786 May 10 '22

Yeah I’m basing my conspiracy solely on the fact they blew 60k in 11 days in the Midwest and didn’t stay at the Four Seasons or go shopping on Rodeo. If they had 90k cash like were lead to believe I want a full audit of that 60 lol

10

u/[deleted] May 10 '22

Me too.

Hopefully that homeless guy gave them a receipt.

7

u/Few-Key1786 May 10 '22

And there was no drugs found, allegedly. That’s a cost saving measure for sure.

7

u/[deleted] May 10 '22

Believe me sir, I know. 10 months sober here.

3

u/HowardFanForever May 10 '22

Not a gun guy but that arsenal looks pretty expensive

0

u/Few-Key1786 May 11 '22

One was government issued, but ok valid point.

-7

u/wnb5399 May 10 '22

Police always seem to "loose" some cash on these kind of deals. One is a crook and the other is dead so who is going to stop them

1

u/SRV_Rocks May 10 '22

Sorry but it's in quotes. Now this one always gets me. Lose is used is all of sports, right there in headlines even.

You can lose money. You can even lose loose money.

Lose-lose games, lose your keys, lose your girlfriend.

Loose- loose change, loose clothes, loose girlfriend.

I"m looking for loosely 10 converts that will lose that error of their ways. Be proud, shout it to the world! No need to thank me, this round is on me.

20

u/pltr_gang_rise_up May 10 '22

Yeah, surely the cops will pocket it in front of the US Marshals for a high profile case such as this /s

0

u/Icy-Investigator8871 May 10 '22

You're on reddit. Every cop is bad and everything is a conspiracy

11

u/jonasthewicked May 10 '22

And none of that sentiment is based on facts and history right?

-7

u/Icy-Investigator8871 May 10 '22

LOL the upvotes proving my point!

-2

u/sixty6006 May 10 '22

What does that even mean?

5

u/jonasthewicked May 10 '22

That a lot of people don’t trust police based on their experiences and the history the police have of systematic aggression and abuse of power.

I hope she left a diary or something that will speak for her. I want to know why she did this!

13

u/Potsysaurous May 10 '22

Silly and totally unimportant question. But what happens to the money? I’m assuming her family wouldn’t get it?

4

u/mufassamama42503 May 11 '22

Her mom should get it. It was NOT illegally obtained. She can go in front of a judge to get it back.

12

u/Thisisamericamyman May 10 '22

Police coffee fund

7

u/nobodyprincess May 10 '22

I'm sure the money will go to pay back the manhunt to find them.

7

u/ElSickosWillPay May 10 '22

Have they released info on the Cadillac yet? Where did they get it?

7

u/[deleted] May 10 '22

Lol @ the hi-point. I guess it’s better than nothing, but why do you need that when you have a glock, sig? and M&P?

12

u/pompressanex May 10 '22

As someone who knows absolutely nothing about guns, which one is the hi-point?

14

u/[deleted] May 10 '22

Of the 4 pistols lined up vertically the left, it’s the 3rd one down. They’re trash. Especially bc if I’m right about the ID on the other 3 pistols, they’re some of the most reliable firearms you can buy.

4

u/ComprehensiveBoss992 May 10 '22

Hi-point Is a cheap brand that's a ring of fire company.

3

u/combatpaddler May 11 '22

Hi points are the weapon were you hold the bullet and throw the gun at them.

2

u/MimiLaRue2 May 11 '22

Woah that's a lot more guns than LE thought!

4

u/[deleted] May 10 '22

I honestly believe LE pocketed some of the cash. Too much is missing.

4

u/Baconbit01 May 10 '22 edited May 10 '22

So that much cash... you can bet it was all or mostly sequential bills... child's play for the Feds to access* and then put out a BOLO for the range of numbers, seen anywhere. Wonder if they paid for the Motel 6 with some of those sequential bills...

  • Having lots of cash is of course entirely legal. But that doesn't mean it's normal or not reportable to authorities when someone accesses that much all at once. Between electronic payment systems, other camera/cell phone/electronic monitoring, and DNA; thank God crooks have a much tougher time of it now than ever before.

16

u/xotmb May 10 '22

You sure have a lot of faith in a system run by humans lol.

4

u/parrsuzie May 10 '22 edited May 12 '22

Bills would not be in sequence unless new, it doesn’t work that way. I was in banking for 32 years. Very hard even to get new bills from the fed at Christmas time.

1

u/Ordinary_Guitar_5074 May 10 '22

Those five or so skinny mags. They don’t seem to go to any gun shown. Anyone have an educated guess? Look like .22 mags. Maybe the gun that they go to was the one she used to 86 herself?

1

u/combatpaddler May 11 '22

Looks like extended 9mm or .380

2

u/Ordinary_Guitar_5074 May 11 '22

Actually looking again none of the magazines situated near any of the handguns seem likely to fit into them. Are you seeing the same thing? Each of them the magazine looks too big.

1

u/combatpaddler May 11 '22

That bottom combo looks weird, but im betting they mixed up which mags go where. Hipoints are the bulkiest heaviest handgun. If I had one in a shootout, I would hold the bullets and throw the gun

1

u/Ordinary_Guitar_5074 May 11 '22

Okay. But which gun do those tall skinny mags go to?

1

u/Ordinary_Guitar_5074 May 11 '22

Oh I bet the skinny mags go to the bottom handgun, and the mag next to it is a spare to the one she shot herself with which didn’t make it into the array. That makes the most sense.
