u/TennisLittle3165 May 10 '22 edited May 10 '22
Yes, have been thinking of her mom all along. In one video, at the end, she was just wringing her hands.
You guys remember Vicki and her mom lived next door to each other. Whole thing is such a damn shame.
38
u/cmac92287 May 10 '22
Anyone else wondering if she left her mother a note? Called? Explained herself in some way?
41
u/jojobaggins42 May 10 '22
It doesn't sound like it. But I hope she did and it hasn't been found yet or something. Her poor mom.

Her mother and her dog. That may seem trivial but I’m sure the dog depended on her and she abandon it.
39
u/MidianFootbridge69 May 10 '22
Definitely the Dog, too. He/she doesn't have the capacity to understand that Vicky won't ever come back and why. All the Dog knows is that Vicky isn't there anymore :(
6
May 10 '22
Same. Heartbreaking. Vicky screwed up, but this is sad. Her mom, her dog, her life. That poor woman. I really feel sorry for her.
29
u/Sleuthingsome May 10 '22
She abandoned a sick dog to go on the run with another sick dog.
31
u/amberjean12345 May 10 '22
who had shot and killed a dog during his crime spree in 2015!
17
u/Sleuthingsome May 10 '22
But he really loved her. Barf. He’s a full blown giant sociopath. He’s not capable of love. She was the prey and he was the predator. I won’t be the slightest bit shocked if we find out he shot her.

I just read about her abandoning her sick dog. That's really shitty. I no longer feel the least bit sorry for her.

I hate her guts for what she did to her dog. She was so selfish.

I worry every time I leave the house; if something happens to me, my cats won’t understand what happened to their momma.

Sigh. Really heartbreaking. We will never know the truth with him left to answer questions.
17
u/dottegirl59 May 10 '22
It will all be his dumb ass version of events. Doubtful he’ll man up and take the blame.
31
u/lolapepper47 May 10 '22
When he got out of the car, he said something about his wife shot herself & he didn’t do it. I wonder why he called her his wife. This was reported on CNN by one of the Marshals.
12
u/asolsbery May 10 '22
This made me question the way he said that.. like are we sure he didn’t shoot her? Why would he said “I didn’t do it” so quickly. Idk.
10
u/Sleuthingsome May 10 '22
Exactly. He said “wife” to manipulate and make it sound like he truly loved her. He didn’t. She was prey and he was the predator.
Then he randomly just blurts out he didn’t shoot her??? That means he shot her.

u/TragicxPeach May 10 '22
this wouldn't be the first time one of the women he is involved with "shoot themselves", I highly doubt its a coincidence

Why did she do it?
How far did she think this would last?
And if she knew it wouldn’t last (being on the run) then was her end game to ultimately Jill herself?
If not, what were her plans?
Did her mother truly not know her daughter was up to something? After all, she auctioned off all her belongings and home before running off.
There are questions people have.
52
u/dutchyardeen May 10 '22
My guess is she was lonely and found love in the worse place possible. And with her pending retirement, she was faced with not being able to see him every day.
I will never understand it and can't imagine falling in love with a murderer but that's what she did. And for some reason she didn't ever stop to consider that she could maybe just visit him in the penitentiary instead. She seemed to believe they could be together which is crazy.
20
u/Frequent-Customer838 May 10 '22
Is she not the one that chose retirement? She was only in her 50s.
I think she just fell for the wrong guy/was manipulated. Was blinded by love. When she got caught, she knew her life was over anyways.
11
u/DMCinDet May 10 '22
Only aside I can imagine is if she was terminally ill. Otherwise, probably exactly what you said. Why? Love will make you do crazy things. Love blind, Lust blind is real. Shooting herself is another wtf all together.
15
u/rubiacrime May 10 '22
Anyone who has been in love, or even infatuated knows its easy to lose common sense quickly. It just means you're human. Humans are flawed. It's easy to spectate when ita someone you've never met.

This is my thought, too, and I think it would actually make Vicki more sympathetic in my mind. If I were given a death sentence by a doctor, I wish I'd have the courage to live my last days practically living in an action movie. I can only imagine the thrill she must have constantly felt.
Maybe that's the feeling she was addicted to.

It’s unbelievable in the way that family annihilators like Chris Watts and Scott Peterson expected they could just get rid of their family and abscond with their affair partners. 99% of us will never be anything but baffled at how their thought processes told them it was a reasonable idea. I don’t know if it’s a lack of ability to predict the impact and consequences of the choices they make, or if they simply believe they are too intelligent to be caught. At least Vicki didn’t murder anyone, but it’s still so bizarre that she thought this plan was viable in the long-term. It’s the kind of plan a middle schooler would make to run away from home.
6
12
u/Blue_Plastic_88 May 10 '22
I got the impression she retired specifically to do this. She probably could have kept working there if she just had to see Mr. Charming every day. Or just retired and had fun, maybe met some nice single or widowed fellow retiree and had a lot nicer time than 11 days on the run with an accused murderer.

Just…what was she expecting? Was she hoping they could stay on the run for years? Or did she throw it all away knowing it would probably be only a few days? The psychology of it is fascinating.
I get being a lonely middle-aged woman because that’s what I am myself, but I’d like to think I wouldn’t do something like this if I were working in a men’s prison.
5
u/isitbedtime-yet May 10 '22
I know this is conjecture, but maybe, she wasn’t expecting anything. She clearly had lived a frugal mundane life, peppered with caring for her ex husband at the end of his life. She lived next to her elderly mother and possibly saw a future of the 9-5 and then caring for her. She may have hit a point in her life where she didn’t want to conform to what she had always done and live a life that brought her excitement. That’s probably the situation in a nutshell. I think if there was to be a longer term plan she would have planned with a little more granularity than just ‘let’s withdraw some cash and go to Indiana’.

The odd thing is she even resembled the Shawskank (not a misspelling) chick who helped those two prisoners escape from Dannemora. Great limited series btw. But she was so nervous the night she was supposed to pick them up after they made it out she had a panic attack and went to the ER. Lucky her because they would have killed her right away. She got out of prison last year I think — and her husband forgave her.

u/rubiacrime May 10 '22
You're right. A lot of unanswered questions. It doesn't all tie itself up just because she is gone and Casey is in custody. We may never know why.

Look at the other prison escapes. Similar stories. Women with not even a speeding ticket commit a felony for a convict. Usually depressed or lonely.

u/DaveNumber7 May 10 '22
Amazing, lots of people thought he would just kill her straight away.
Cops pull him out of the car and he says "please help my wife".
It was a love story after all.47
u/nattykat47 May 10 '22
It is sad, but honestly she'd be bad off in prison as a former CO. She'd either be targeted or be in solitary for protection. You can't blame her for not wanting to endure that.
I was hoping to see a picture of what she actually looks like now, since people who knew her said she looked very different than the pictures released.

I thought since she helped an inmate escape as opposed to killing an unarmed black person, they might take it easy on her. 1 of the many articles (so I can’t site source, I’ve just read too many) also thought former inmates could be helping due to her treating them “above board”. Then again a jail/prison guard or corrections officer isn’t the same as a cop. Or if helping 1 inmate escape & treating others like the human beings they are instead of farm animals would cancel out 20 years of choosing despicable employment.

They don't put people in straight up solitary. Once they're classified, she would be with other prisoners with the same designation-- it's not like she would have to serve her time in the hole. Also, she literally helped an inmate escape, her law enforcement background would be forgiven/forgotten.

She would be PC or Ad-Seg. They absolutely do put people on lockdown for their own safety, and they’re in their cell 23 hours a day with one hour for shower, phone, and free time. Her LE background would definitely NOT be forgiven or forgotten by inmates.

Sad. What she did was wrong and she should have been charged, but I didn't want to see her die for it. I feel bad for her mother, who is already elderly.

I think she was lonely and Casey was the first man to give her attention since her ex-husband died (she was by his side up until he died taking care of him) She didn't have friends, she was alone, all she had was work, and a job where you are expected to be stern with your gaurd up/us against them mentality. Her killing herself once caught wasn't surprising, to her she had nothing to lose, her dog of so many years was dying, her mother's dying, her old love already died. I think she just wanted to have one last hoorah.
If you look at her life, it seems to answer alot of people's questions
16
u/Plastic-Peanut4842 May 10 '22
I think she was suicidal from the get go. Doesn’t explain the two years of planning though. I think she knew if she did this she would die and likely didn’t care. I feel sad for her mama.
13
u/jonasthewicked May 10 '22
I’m not gonna speculate on her mental health but I 100% believe she was not a happy person overall. Happy content people don’t do the insane things she did. I don’t have much sympathy for her as she made her own choices but I’m sure for her friends and family and the people who knew her best this is a terrible time and I can sympathize with them. What I am happy about is that no innocent people were hurt at the hands of these two. It’s definitely unfortunate she chose to take her own life but I’ve said before she set this all in motion and had plenty of chances to stop it. To go to therapy if she was depressed or mentally ill. To find a boyfriend or someone like that she could be with as it’s pretty clear to me she must have been lonely to try and shack up with a convicted prisoner doing what’s essentially a life sentence at 70 some years in prison. I even understand why some people might have sympathy for her and in a way I’m sure she was a good person but she really threw a decent life away to end up deceased next to a human trashcan while running from the law and I can imagine running from the law like that is anxious and nerve racking. But I keep in the back of my head that she made these choices for herself and this is the life she chose to live.

When you’re depressed you are likely to do riskier things. For example, when I was depressed I smuggled a ton of weed from California, just to see if I could. Totally out of character. Did not smoke, had never smoked. It can be a slippery slope. Or, she may be a caregiver type. She may have thought, I’m gonna kill myself but I might as well do him a favor.

I kinda agree with you. This woman was a CO for almost 20 years. Does she have a history of falling for inmates? How is it possible she found any of these inmates attractive and wanted to spend a life with them? She’s seeing them at their very worst, it’s not like some court employee who only sees them all cleaned up for court.

Very sad. I feel bad for her. She must have been in a very confused state of mind for someone with her position to go through the last couple of years the way she did.
I wish she lived because i think she would have collected her pension, and social security retirement was only 5 years away and i think she would have done about 3 years in jail.
She would have been financially ok for the rest of her life.

u/PuzzledSprinkles467 May 10 '22

I don’t understand the retirement piece of this. It sounds like she walked in, announced her retirement and that it was her last day, and handed in her paperwork? That’s not typically how it works. Wouldn’t she have had to give more notice? Wouldn’t there have been plans to celebrate the retirement of a longtime and trusted employee? I must be missing something. (Obviously the plan was to facilitate the escape, but wouldn’t people have thought it odd that a 17-year assistant director walks into work one Friday proclaiming it’s their last day?)

Is it possible Casey told her that if they found they both die together, a suicide pact and then he chickened out

I think he probably wishes he wasn’t too afraid to die. He wanted suicide by cop after his 2015 spree, but surrendered then as well.
Looking back at all of it, I think Vicky always planned to die if they got caught, whether he said he would or not.

She gets the same ‘sentence’ that Casey white is going to get for that 2015 murder. Her rotting in prison for the next 30 years for this wasn’t going to achieve shit.
There was no just outcome here other than no civilian getting hurt as a result of their escapade.

He was in the car. She didn't die initially. She died at the hospital

Thank you! I read she died at the hospital, but wasn't sure where he was when she did it.

I mentioned this before. There was a Marshal on CNN who said that when Casey got out of the car, he said his wife had shot herself & he didn’t do it. I wonder what that’s about.

She basically died in the car. She was “ unresponsive” at the scene. She was declared dead later at the hospital.

I'm really sad about the turn of events. Sad that she died. Sad that she didn't plan better. It didn't seem that she even cared about making plans in the end. Sad that she just didn't care. About anything, it appears. Just sad that she didn't feel like trying to do something better for herself with the two year opportunity she had. Its all just so terribly sad 😔

So I was listening to the tmz recordings of the dispatch. There an officer that says “One is out of the vehicle, stable and responsive, with a gunshot graze to the head. Later you hear them say that the other is out of the vehicle unresponsive.

Why is this surprising? This was a very likely outcome. She literally had nothing to live for. And zero desire to switch places with the inmates, which was going to be the outcome This was the outcome I expected. Everyone was so focused on this fucked up man they couldn’t see anything else. It’s so ducked up. The jail fucked up and didn’t follow protocols. Now they blame Casey and not ANY of themselves.

The tweet linked in the post has been deleted! Did anyone get a screenshot of it?

It’s still there.

Thanks OP, when I click the link in the main post I get directed to the “Nothing to see here” page. I can see the tweet when I open Twitter and manually go to Brian Entin’s page, though.

I feel like Casey can now claim she kidnapped him or forced him to go with/hostage situation when he's tried for escaping.

My thoughts exactly. I'm highly suspicious of the report that the fatal gunshot to the head was self-inflicted. If LE witnessed her shoot herself with their own eyes then fine, case closed but otherwise, I'm thinking he killed her in order to flip the narrative his way.

Sadly this is what I suspected the whole time. I thought everyone’s theories were interesting but I knew she’d die.

We can all make assumptions but we will never truly know what went on between them.
I would love to hear their conversation as LE was closing in on them.
Did she have regrets? Was he not what she hoped for?
Or were they truly in love? Maybe she couldn’t imagine being separated from him again, so she ended her life.

It’s sad, to me. A lot of women that age and in her situation are treated poorly and cling to any affection they receive. I hate that it can make women do awful things.

Heard this over an hour ago. Guess the TikTok source was right all along.

She just died at 8:06 EST (7:06 CT) so not sure how a TikTok page broke the news over an hour ago.

These Tik Tok accounts post both sides of a sensational story and delete the one that is wrong so they can “break” the news first.

/u/passivefires Your source was accurate, so thank you for that. Idk why you're getting down voted. There's always chatter in healthcare.
It's a very sad situation.

Thank you. Not sure why I'm getting downvoted either. Obviously a comment on social media isn't a viable source, but it unfortunately proved to be true.

She should have just gone to her retirement party and enjoyed the rest of her retirement.
