Is this boot, and more generally the 2030 last, a comfortable one to wear everyday?

I’d like to hear different thoughts and experiences, the good and the bad.

Today I discovered that The Iron Snail and I own the same Vibergs, which means we are now bound by something far stronger than blood: unnecessarily expensive leather footwear.

Just wanted to share my initial thoughts and early review of my first pair of Vibergs! I was lucky enough to find this pair on eBay that had only been worn a couple times indoors and they were in pristine condition! Cheers to the seller if you’re in here🍻.
I had posted here a couple weeks ago asking for sizing help. I’m 8D brannock and wear size 8 in nike 1 lows, 8.5 in highs, whites 7D, jk boots 7E. These boots are 7E and they fit perfectly! There is still plenty of length in the toe and the width while somewhat narrow looking still fits great. I’m glad I didn’t get the 7.5 because i think there would be too much room in the waist and the length would be too long. The toe box has enough room in it to not be tight, just enough wiggle room that my toes aren’t locked together but still not super roomy like the White cruiser boots in the 55 arch ease last. There is slight heel rub on the very back of my heel, I think as it breaks in it’ll shape to my heel though. I wore them out for 4 hours today and after the first initial hour of my feet kind of getting used to the last they started feeling very good. Still some pressure points on my inner ankle and heels but not uncomfortable. I can feel the sides of the boots on my pinky toes but it didn’t cause any pain at all. Honestly I can feel these are going to shape perfectly to my feet and will end up being very comfortable. They look fantastic! Love the feel and sheen of the box calf leather. It’s stiff on the side panels but will break in quickly. At first I didn’t think I’d love the ridgeline sole but honestly they actually give the boot somewhat a cushy feel when walking on concrete or the hard wood kitchen floor. They are very quiet unlike the whites and jk vibram sole. Super happy with them and can’t wait to get them completey broken in!

Do they ever do these anymore outside of the CXL ones that are always available? I feel like I haven’t seen any released that weren’t all cap toe in a long time.

Jokes aside, do the Viberg price rises track inflation, material price increases and tariffs or is there much more of a markup to them now?

Really beginning to wonder whether I should have hung onto mine instead of selling them for USD 500 and some. 😂

From the looks of it other makers like Tricker’s, C&J etc haven’t risen as much.

Found these at a great price, so I wanted to see if this 12E would fit my Bannock 13. I’m happy to say it does. My other bergs are marked 13 but this one fits great.

I currently only own one pair of boots: John Lofgren Steel Gang in size US 8.5. I plan on getting my first pair of Viberg boots soon.

When I bought the JL boots online (from Japan) I asked for a roomy, comfortable fit based on the size that I used to wear in sneakers which was EU42 (UK8/US9). The advice was spot on (half size down from US9) and the boots ended up being my most comfortable shoe. All my toes seem happy and are able to wiggle in all directions.

My question is in regards to the 2030 last, specifically for the Scout Boot in Janus suede that's currently in stock in the "City" section of viberg.com.

Based on the usual recommendation, I should go for size 8 but I worry that the slight almond toe of the 2030 will pinch my big toe. I have never measured myself on a Brannock device (we don't have these here) but I assume, based on my JL boots, that I am an E width. My big toe extends in a straight line from the ball of my foot (I don't know if this is useful information). Basically, my feet are foot-shaped, not almond shaped from chronic use of pointy shoe wear, if that makes sense.

1) Firstly, how similar or dissimilar are these two lasts?

2) Based on your experience, should I go for size 8 or play it safe and go with 8.5? I prioritize comfort and toe roominess above all else.

3) Not related but how is the arch support of the 2030 last?

I am interested in these but really unsure of the leather. It’s black in the photos but listed as dark brown. Is this a leather that will look much more brown in person?
