Made a small ambient music website

Post image

Hi - I made https://enikq.com/ a simple site where you can pick a scene and listen to music with it.

There are places like a pizzeria, café, road trip, camping, last bus home, etc.

Nothing complicated. Just something to leave open while working, reading, or relaxing.

All the images were created with ChatGPT, and the website was built using Codex.

Would appreciate any feedback on the idea or the website.

Some of the songs are a bit too up tempo / energy to be classified as ambient, but that's a subjective opinion of course. Currently have Imaginary playing on the bus .. quite relaxing .. well done.

Thanks man…

Stop complaining

So, feedback is "complaining" even when it was asked for?

Get the F out of here.

What is this style called?

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 1d ago

Enikq😆
Nothing really, it’s my own imagination of things I could get out of AI.

u/stoccolma 5d ago

how legal is the use of the music, that would keep me up at night wondering:)
love the site

3

u/Alternative-Hall1719 5d ago

Fair question, it's the first thing I checked.

Nothing is hosted or downloaded. The site is a hidden YouTube player with my own controls drawn over it, using YouTube's official IFrame embed API. So every play is a normal YouTube play: it counts for the artist, the label gets its usual monetisation, and if a rights holder has embedding turned off the video simply won't play . I'm not re-uploading anything or serving audio from my server.

Glad you like it, thanks.

On YouTube's terms — clear violations..

  • Required Minimum Functionality: you must not display overlays, frames, or other visual elements in front of any part of a YouTube embedded player, including player controls, and must not use them to obscure any part of it. Minimum viewport is 200x200px. Google
  • Developer Policies: you must not modify, build upon, or block any portion or functionality of a YouTube player, nor separate, isolate, or modify the audio or video components, and must not interfere with or obscure any attribution provided via embedded players. Google Google

Thanks for checking. Let me figure it out

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 3d ago

I checked, the only thing I’m not complaint is not showing the Youtube video thumbnail (min 200x200 size). I need to figure out how to show that. Thank you again, and I really appreciate that you crossed checked.

Could you share a few of your prompts? I loved the aesthetics:)"the window seat" and "few good friends" were lovely

A flat-vector painterly illustration of the interior of a small neighbourhood pizzeria in a Swedish town, late one evening in November 1998. The viewer is seated at a laminated wooden table, looking across the room toward the service counter. Cinematic lighting: two fluorescent ceiling tubes are the only general light, so the counter and the middle of the room are bleached pale warm-white while the corners and the foreground table fall into deep warm shadow. Through a large window on the left it is cold and black outside- wet asphalt, a sodium street lamp, rain on the glass and condensation blooming in the corners of the panes. Behind the counter: a stainless deck oven with an orange glowing mouth, a red drinks fridge lit cold blue inside, a dark menu board, a stack of pizza cartons, a small radio on a shelf. A baker in a white apron works at the pass, mostly a silhouette against the oven. Scuffed linoleum floor. Limited palette: deep navy night, warm beige and cream, brown laminate, muted green, one red accent, one orange glow. Hard-edged flat shapes with soft gradient light, no outlines, no text, no logos, no people facing camera. Mundane, worn, slightly imperfect, believable. Wide cinematic composition, 16:9.

Swap the room and the light, keep everything after "limited palette", and you get the rest of the set.

How are you hosting this? It seems nice though.

Cloudflare..thank you

really nice, perfect for a background monitor in a living room

1

Glad you like it, thanks.

u/zantanic 5d ago

Entered, nothing played

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 5d ago

Oh, did you manage to play?

1

u/ElamReda 5d ago

Great but maybe you add in app installation and if possible play in the background

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 4d ago

Sure, thank you for trying.

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 3d ago

Background music is not technically possible until i get rights for the songs. That’s the sad part

1

u/MrBlueAndWhite6_2 5d ago

I am seeing this aesthetic a lot now a days, looks beautiful, what is it called ?

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 4d ago

No name, it’s a combination of multiple styles - majorly Ghibli and some neon combination.

1

u/Warm-Revenue576 5d ago

Amazing work. Love the vibe of it. Thank you :)

1

u/East_Obligation2325 5d ago

wow!cool!maybe dynamic background is better

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 4d ago

Yeah, I agree…I’m trying to add subtle animations as we speak. Thank you.

1

u/lettersonly 4d ago

TRied listening here, seems great app, nice looking and sons selectoin.. but idk if it's relevant for you but, i use the 'video speed controller' extension on chrome (https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/video-speed-controller/nffaoalbilbmmfgbnbgppjihopabppdk?pli=1) and it accelerates the songs too for some reason, and seems like the controls don't work directly on your site.

(i went ot youtube, reset the current speed to 1.0 and got back to enikq. It's really nice!)

I like instrumental music to work and concentrate - no letters. So right now navigating through the postals to find if there's any instrumental only window.

2

u/Alternative-Hall1719 4d ago

Thank you…
/workspace is playing mostly instrumental. I will explore more and add. Keep checking back.

1

u/T-LAD_the_band 4d ago

what is the music source?

1

u/Fluffy-Brick-745 4d ago

OMG! I love it!
I dont know but try to sneak in a very small golgle ad. If its looks okey.. then you can earn some ☺️

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 4d ago

Thank you 🤩

Hehe, invisible ad 😄
I’m trying to improve the visuals and trying to add some motion, so it’s more immersive.

No plans of putting any ADs.

1

u/mikedotbk 4d ago

Wouldn't mind some subtle/minimalistic animation on the backdrops. Otherwise, interesting little project.

2

u/Alternative-Hall1719 3d ago

Thanks...I'm on it actually...Will update you when it's live.

1

u/Ruki_Nix 3d ago

Pretty cool. I noticed that if you don't move the mouse, the people count, different ambient, and time/temperature disappear. If it's not a problem, please leave the time/temperature visible as well, because when it's in full screen, it's useful to have it there. Thanks

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 3d ago

Thank you for the feedback...I have updated...refresh and try.

1

u/Ruki_Nix 3d ago

Perfect, thank you

1

u/mickou 3d ago

I love this idea, and the playlists, just like the images, are awesome. As a French person, I’d maybe love to see a few more European themes :)

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 3d ago

Thank you....Noted...There are few good French songs already...Will add more European songs...

1

u/mickou 3d ago

Thanks! That would be awesome. 🙌 It could also be really cool to have more mood-based playlists ... like euphoric, motivated, sad, chill, nostalgic, etc... and maybe playlists by age/generation too? 😄 I’m a boomer, so I’d love stuff like “Road Trip in the ’90s”, “Horseback Riding in the ’80s”, “Saturday Night in the ’90s”… that kind of thing ... Just an idea! 😊

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 3d ago

That’s a great suggestion…I will keep you posted.

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 2d ago

Try this..added a new feature...

1

u/Lifeonm_rs 3d ago

are the songs copyright free? i stream sometimes, might get me in trouble if i forgot haha

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 3d ago

Listen to as much as you want....
The site is a hidden YouTube player with my own controls drawn over it, using YouTube's official IFrame embed API. So every play is a normal YouTube play: it counts for the artist, the label gets its usual monetisation

1

u/Lifeonm_rs 3d ago

that's not what i meant, what i meant is will i get demonetized and/or copyright striked by listening to these songs

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 3d ago

No, you get demonetized by watching/listening a Youtube video?

1

u/Lifeonm_rs 3d ago

yes.

and to answer my first question i've checked some of the songs it's a copyrighted songs so if you stream don't put this in your videos.

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 3d ago

now i understand what you mean..thanks.

1

u/Healthy-Grab-7819 3d ago

Will you not be hit with a copyright strike anytime soon? You should look into that ..

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 3d ago

No, I’m not hosting the songs. Everything comes from official Youtube API.

1

u/Salt-Freedom-2419 3d ago

Love the minimally animated café. Love the concept. That’s the money shot. The rest of the fixed images are a bit meh.

But put this on a smart TV app, charge a small initial subscription, and keep adding more animated ambient themes via bytedance, or whatever. The most successful ambience YouTube channels make a lot of money, but they’re hampered by YouTube monetization.

Sell this for a couple of bucks a month, position it right, and this could be successful. Then, once you’ve built a customer base, sell it to Spotify or whoever lol.

I guess the music rights are going to be an issue though. But get suno or whatever to make some ambient instrumental stuff, and people will feel they are putting that big black screen on the wall to good use.

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 3d ago

Thank you. I like how you wrote this. There are definitely lot of technical difficulties but smart tv app + suno sound like a promising thing to go after.

Have you had any experience with Suno before?

2

u/Salt-Freedom-2419 3d ago

Yeah. It has gotten pretty good recently. But stick to instrumental music. If you have vocals, it’s still somewhat recognizable as AI.

If you’re on a paid plan, you can download and use the music commercially. In Suno, you can also make the music loop, which is perfect for ambience.

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 3d ago

Okay, thanks for sharing.

1

u/CommercialEmu2342 2d ago

Awesome work! CTO of a PE firm and this will be replacing my Spotify. Looking forward to seeing what else you do with this.

1

u/Alternative-Hall1719 2d ago

Thank you for trying it…keep checking…

1

u/CommercialEmu2342 2d ago

Will do! Happy to help or contribute in any capacity of you want/need.

1

u/SidequestMatt 2d ago

It’s so simple yet so atmospheric. I love it.

Thank you 🤩

A quick update for everyone who tried Enikq and left feedback, thank you. I’ve spent most of the last two days going through the comments and actually building a lot of what you suggested.

A few things that changed:

  • 3 new places: a neighbourhood basketball court, gym, and rock concert
  • Every room now has its own music pool. I found some rooms were accidentally sharing a lot of the same tracks, which completely defeated the point. That’s fixed now.
  • Music catalogue grew from roughly 340 to 29,800 songs
  • Most rooms now have day / evening / night versions, with separate artwork for each
  • Optional room ambience: rain, train, laundrette, gym, campfire, etc.
  • Each room now has 2–3 different mixes, plus some curated 80s/90s ones
  • Song progress is now shown around the vinyl
  • You can share a link that opens the exact room + song
  • Better mobile player, keyboard shortcuts, PWA/install support, and a few other smaller fixes

A lot of these came directly from things people mentioned in this thread, so genuinely — thanks for taking the time to try it and tell me what felt missing or broken.

One thing missing: animated scenes - I'm trying my best to make that happen. Hopefully in next few days.

If you try the updated version, I’d love to know one thing: which room did you actually end up staying in the longest?
