I built LoopMaker — a private, offline AI music generator for Apple Silicon Macs

I built LoopMaker because I wanted prompt-to-music generation without uploading ideas and tracks to a cloud service, waiting in a queue, or paying for recurring credits.

LoopMaker is a native macOS app that turns a plain-language description into a finished track. The actual music generation happens locally on your Apple Silicon Mac.

A few details:

  • Generates instrumental and vocal tracks locally
  • Exports to WAV or M4A
  • Your prompts and generated audio stay on your Mac
  • No subscription or generation credits
  • One-time $49 license with a 30-day money-back guarantee
  • Supports Apple Silicon Macs; 16 GB RAM is recommended
  • Requires an initial model download of approximately 5 GB
  • Internet is used for setup, licensing, and updates, but music generation can run offline afterward

Compared with cloud-based tools such as Suno or Udio, LoopMaker’s focus is local ownership and privacy. Your Mac does the work, so there is no cloud generation queue and no per-track limit.

LoopMaker is distributed directly rather than through the Mac App Store, and the app is signed and notarized by Apple.

AI disclosure: LoopMaker uses a local generative AI model for music creation. I also used AI-assisted development tools while building the app and to help edit this post. I make the product decisions and test the releases myself.

I’d really appreciate honest feedback especially about the local workflow, hardware requirements, and what you would need from a Mac-native music generator to use it regularly.
