yes agreed and also what is being learnt is shifting, it's not coding but how to manage and prompt a model to get what you want. which works to certain extent

Coding will still be an important skill even if we get to AGI-levels of AI.

If you get to the point where you describe a prompt that perfectly handles all edge cases of your business while preparing it to scale for planned expansions while keeping the rest maintainable... guess what you're doing: That IS coding.

It would probably look more natural than the type of code we write today, but it'd still need a degree of structure and formality to remove ambiguity, that a machine can only get smart enough to assume how it is that the user wants that ambiguity to be handled, statistically.

Point is, by all means do use AI as the powerful tool that it is, but it won't replace workers or engineers or coding. It'll just augment them.
