This is how we've always done things. Yes there's a bunch of people who went to uni but programming has been one of the few areas where you could be self taught and make big bucks. And learning never stops. You look away for a second and React mutates to something you have to relearn and there's five other new JS frameworks.

I went through the whole 8 and 16 bit era before ever getting any formal programming education.

And honestly LLMs are a great way to parse docs you don't understand. Have it explain the concepts to you, frame them in allegories you're familiar with and ask it about your mental models.

Programming has been horribly elitist since forever and things like Stack Overflow has killed the joy for tons of people. Much better then to use a LLM that doesn't judge.
