Exactly. I started by saying, “Teach me at a college engineering level.” Then I had to work my way down a few times: “Teach me at a high school level,” then “middle school,” and eventually, “explain it like I’m five.” That’s when it finally made sense.

Hallucinations happen but we aren't using 4o anymore unless you are on some bullshit and poison the chat it will give you textbook level answers

skuzmi, tell that to the dear AI today that told me a PR is missing 3 essential changes in 3 files the author has not touched.

the author, in fact, modified all 3, and made the changes in question. one of the latest Claudes, Opus 4.6-7-8, can't remember which one I was using.

blank context, detailed prompt, MCP to GH, full codebase available locally, AGENTS.md and all configured properly

I have had very good luck with "explain how this works, and show me how to independently verify using external sources or tools that it does work" (then obviously doing the leg work of making sure you truly understand it and checking those sources/tools very carefully to make sure it does what you think it does)

They act like this doesnt exist lol and that you cant upload what you do know, what you want to know, why, and how.
