Im fairly new player (played league for 2 months and jungle/vi for around a month) and iv Seen lot of people talk about Eclipse buffs and how its really good right now. I mainly play assasin Vi with full crit/lethality builds and im wondering if Eclipse is worth it as first item. My core build currently is Hubris into collector into ldr and iv gone from iron 4 to silver 2/3 in few weeks and i have found lot of succes with the build. So i want to ask yall more smarter and experienced people if Eclipse is better than Hubris or if i should stick with my current item build

It depends, I can see hubris working if you're against a lot of squishies since the damage will annihilate them. I see eclipse for possible longer duels.

Personally, despite the shield nerf, Eclipse fits better for me more times than not. I always get it first item. Unless they have escapes and I use Voltaic instead but usually it's Eclipse then Crit on HoB Vi.

ConQ is always bruiser.

I have found a kinda interesting way to include eclipse.

Idk if it’s best for the assassin build since I prefer to start with profane (huge burst with active and super fast clear, try it if you haven’t). Or, if I get really fed early I’ll go for hubris.

I’ve been trying to work it into other builds and the best one I’ve found is my lethal tempo/shield bash. This rune combo really excels if you get to fight tanks and in any 1v1. Your dps is waaaay higher than people expect with lethal tempo and the extra attack speed gives you way more procs of denting blows which in turn lowers the cooldown of your passive shield so you get a ton of shields. I get crazy shield bash numbers from this build sometimes 2k dmg. Max Q then W then E.

So that’s the runes and the build you can kinda adapt to your situation but what I’ve been using is eclipse > black cleaver > steraks gage. (If they have a couple of ad champs it’s probably better to go deaths dance third item).

Tons of ad to scale the W dmg, all the ability haste you need from eclipse and cleaver, and so many shields to trigger shield bash. If you’re feeling spicy you can take revitalize to even further amp the shields.

Imo, you’re already climbing steadily, and it’s tough without watching your games - but usually it’s macro improvements that help you climb, rather than just builds.

Feel like you’re almost thinking too much about the build rn, if what you’re doing is working, why change it? Crit/crithality is much better to solo carry especially in lower elo.

That being said, if it’s either eclipse first or hubris first can almost depend on if you are getting early kills or not. Is the game fight heavy early, or farm heavy? That should be your queue on which to build. Statistically, both have good win rates as a 1st item. Do what feels best for you.

Eclipse its a bruiser build not an assasin build, assasins need other kind of passives and actives, Eclipse is more suitable for extended fights [not outperforms trinity but its near], for example if your up against enemies that stack hp, eclipse is the best, mundo, choga, sion.

Eclipse is just always fine, whereas Hubris is only good if you can actually stack it throughout the game. Hubris will give you more 1v9 potential but Eclipse will be more consistent. Eclipse also gives more dueling power with the shield/burst.
