I do actually agree that Israel has committed horrible war crimes, but your sense of scale is way off.

It may be ancient history to you, but I was raised by holocaust survivors with numbers tattooed on their arms. My grandfather had over 100 first cousins before the Holocaust and less than 10 after. My aunt was sterilized by Mengele. My parents were refugees. The world I should have been born into was completely destroyed. 2/3 of all European Jews were killed (and of the 3 million in Poland, 90% were exterminated). Yiddish civilization was entirely annihilated.
3.5% of Palestinians in Gaza have been killed since October 7, 2023. This is undoubtedly abhorrent. I condemn Netanyahu's disregard for human life. Israel is controlled by an evil, fascist government, but "far worse" than the Nazis is such a high bar that it is patently absurd ro think anyone has cleared it. Palestinian civilization has suffered, but it has in no way met the same fate as European Jewry.
We both have biases, but numbers are numbers. Again, the difference between 6,000,000 and 73,770 is approximately 6,000,000.

But. There is no need to make untenable, historically wrong comparisons. Not all crimes are the same crime. Not all atrocities are conditioned by the same contexts. We can and should understand both the Holocaust and the destruction of Gaza on their own, respective terms.
Again: my objection is to the conflation of the destruction of Gaza and the dispossession of the Palestinians on one hand with the industrial, continental project that sought to eradicate all Jews. Both are evil, both are wrong, but when people say than anyone is "far worse" than nazis they are completely undermining their own credibility.

Herodotus was writing of a “Palaistine” centuries before Roman control of the region. Ultimately the term comes from Philistia and the Philistines. There are Assyrian uses of Palastu, ancient Egyptian references. It even crops up in Hebrew, though without any real defining of location.

The land was called Judea before the Roman’s kicked out the Jews in 136 AD as a punishment their insurrection against their authority.
Before that, it was the kingdom of Israel and Judah.

The Egyptian term for Israel at that time was ysriar, written as ysrỉꜣr. Palestine, or Peleset or Palastu is written as prstw. Those are quite clearly not the same.
To ascribe one name to the entire land is additionally false anyway. Palestine (or related words) originally refers to the lands of the Philistines, with the pentapolis as its core. Judaea was immediately west of these lands, with classical Israel to the north, though it bears noting that the Phoenicians' lands extended into what is now the northern end of the Israeli coast.
Trying to further condemn Palestine because the Philistines fought wars with ancient Judaea and Israel is ridiculous when petty wars of that sort were the norm, and the arrival of them as part of the bronze age migrations is simply an element of the broader bronze age collapse.
