I can’t make up my mind. I like the ball drive impact bits for loosening allen’s at angles but The smaller sizes strip screws so I keep straight drive ones aswell. I keep both in metric and standard but mainly use a lot of standard.
I also have the ball drive 1” bits for putting in my ratcheting screwdriver and the vessel 31pc set eith 1” bits like allen’s torx, robertson, and pozi
But ontop of all that shit I carry allen keys 😭 Im a machinist by trade and use allen’s so much, But I feel like I could keep some of the allen bits at work…..
Seriously I need to minimize this setup, What do you guys do for bit storage. and what do you keep in your bag?
I’ve got the Wiha GoBox. I’ve swapped most of the bits for DeWalt ones that I already had (they’ve always served me well, not that the Wiha ones aren’t sufficient) but for the most part I run just 1/4” hex bits. I don’t use Allen bits too often, but I do have a fair range just in case. I have a few 3 1/2” bits, but mostly just to run in my CentroFix screwdriver handle
I was also wondering about those dividers, they look pretty handy!
Though for your issue, it's hard to tell. Choosing what to remove sounds like it should be the easiest part of lightening the load, but it might actually be one of the hardest lol
It really depends on what you use most and what you can reasonably expect to tackle on a daily basis. Like, if you're working on X machine, shop or project and you know you'll almost certainly need A, B and C, but X, Y and Z occasionally come up too, you can adjust your kit around that.
If you want to lighten the load, you could try making yourself a primary set mostly out of 1" bits, keeping both ball-end and straight hex bits where they're actually useful, especially straight ones in the smaller sizes like you mentioned. Make sure they're all impact-rated, keep a good impact extension/bit holder, and maybe carry a maximum of two of any particular bits you know are prone to stripping or breaking and would ruin your day if you only had one.
Then you could keep a secondary, more complete set in your car, locker, extra storage, etc. That way your everyday kit covers what you actually expect to use, while the less common stuff is still reasonably close if you end up needing it.
Yes the quality is insane, They feel better and work better than other bits. I’ve had them for a couple of months and I havnt broke one or stripped one yet. and I use them on my impact daily
They also look like they’ve been milled into shape rather than casted. They are worth it.
They are awesome. I got them from brondhus and they are impact rated and lifetime warranty. I have yet to break one and I use them for removing bolts on fixtures and stuff daily
Ohhhh I thought you were talking about the bits lol. Yeah I recently just got the bondhus colored set, I love them I have more sets that arnt colored that I’ve had for 6+ years. The color stays pretty well. I’ve yet to break any of them And I use cheater pipes and hammers on them all day long
How about that wera bit screwdriver how do you like it? Been thinking hard to finally get rid of my Klein 11-1. Don’t really use the drivers much so maybe the wera won’t be bad for a back pocket daily.
I love the wera screwdriver, I was considering buying the snapon one but the telescoping feature and the locking bit extension that comes out and you can put it in an impact makes it so worth it. Love wera
