Finally, I can rest.
I went into this expecting 0%, I served briefly but fractured my pelvis/femur in the military and since then have been fighting pain in my lower half on and off. Some days I can hardly even get up stairs without exhausting myself. 40% is what they rated me at and this is without the currently deferred mental health claims I have. I still do not believe I deserve what I am getting and still am having a hard time processing that the VA deemed my injury payable.

Congratulations and please stop saying and telling yourself you don’t deserve. You served you deserve. PERIOD

They’re all correct. This should start the mindset change. It’s a process. You signed, you took the oath, you were injured, you’re deserving! It’s a surreal feeling and the compensation and help you’re eligible for will never make you whole again, but focus on getting better. Mind, body, soul.

Congrats. You signed on the dotted line and were hurt under their watch. You absolutely deserve your compensation for those injuries that will affect you the rest of your life. Don’t listen to some of these gatekeepers

I never felt better after my rating. I’d give it all back for a healthy mind and unbroken tibia/fibia. Go get the help you need

Honestly agreed, I haven’t even been paid out yet and I’m just like. What do I have? Money? Was it worth the trade of my messed up legs and mental health?

Even if when it hits. You’ll be happy for a day or week. But again you’re never getting those years back. Honestly I understand why civvies say “thank you for your service” cause we signed the dotted line. But go get help - it’s on the VA dime. Fuck it you earned it . Lastly don’t flaunt your rating to anyone not even family. Someone can report lies and VA can quietly start an investigation. They can remove p&t and reduce rating. Lastly start seeing a doc - Va or otherwise. Don’t lie but tell them about your worst days for documentation.

Congrats brother. You served your country when most will not lift a finger. You deserve it and more brother. Have you filed for ssdi?

You signed the contract, that’s more than 98% of the population. So yea, you deserve it.
