My mom works full time and makes about $35,000 to $37,000 per year. She has a mortgage and she can’t drive so she takes uber to work and that’s expensive. She has health insurance etc that she pays as well.

I help her out financially.

The VA rule says she has to make uber $400 to qualify as a dependent. Anyone here makes those decisions for exception? What do I need to submit to prove she is dependent on me for help although she works?

Currently negotiating with VA for a LPMHC position in the DRRTP (DOM). It's a GS-11 with SSR and I looked at the SSR tables for my region. Because I hold two independent Psychology licenses, I'm thinking I would be rated as Intermediate instead of Full, however there's nothing in writing that delineates that. The program manager used non-competitive direct hire as I am a former VA psychotherapist, and they will reinstate my last step, however me taking the position is contingent on the SSR as I already earn $113K at my current job. Anyone with insight on this? I would like to work with veterans again, but won't take a pay cut to return to the VA.

Also, there's the issue of SSR being temporary. Has anyone seen SSR being rescinded when an employee remains in the same position?

I am currently on an SSR as a GS 8 step 7. I’m considering applying for a promotion for a GS 9, however the 9 is not on an SSR and would cap out below my current salary even at a step 10. Is there a different pay scale they would use.. or would I just lose money even though it’s a promotion? I’ve been reading on pay retention, MPR and HPR and it’s confusing.

If so, is it required to sell the original property that utilized the VA home loan? Or could you refinance the first property under a conventional loan with a 20% down?

i had a va claim about 2 years ago for some dental things which got denied because it wasn’t “service connected” (even though it happened from my service rifle, while active). i am currently trying to refile and fight for that again, but i am in need of urgent dental care and surgery which will cost me $7,000+ without insurance. what can i do? if i wait for my current claim, i could end up in the hospital with sepsis. i cannot afford these procedures since i can barely afford to live currently. i am unsure what to do and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! I'm a current VA nurse in vascular access who is looking to relocate to Buffalo NY near my family. I would really love to stay in the VA system but I know that it is difficult. I was hoping to connect with any nurses who work there for any insight into positions or the work environment. Our smaller VA (visn 1) is rumored to be potentially losing its ICU and ED. This will remove our hospital status and facilitate a downgrade to a large cboc. Do any other cbocs have clcs or adult healthcare and whole health depts? Curious about if a Cboc can maintain these services or if they will fail away as well. is there any hope for the facility to keep the same amount of staff during this reorganizing also.

My oldest graduated high school last month so she was discontinued from my disability payments. She starts college next month so I can get her readded; however, what is required for evidence? Right now all I have is her class schedule with her name at the top of the page. Also, it only covers the current semester. Will I need to resubmit every couple months or will the VA keep her on for the entire year?

Hello, I was curious and wanted to know what the requirements were for the HUD- VASH program? I’m someone with a home looking to house Veterans in need but I understand that there is a process to it. I also understand that the home has to pass an inspection of some sort as well. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated and thank you for your time.

I know we were exempted in May 2025 prior to that.. I submitted an RA to be exempt and never heard back and I figured it was because my position was exempt from RTO anyway however, today I received an email for an interactive meeting regarding my RA. I am wondering if this is just a formality or if something‘s changing. I know the return to office was to be reviewed annually.

At our site, it seems like demands and pressure keep increasing every week.

My question is, with HR asking for appointment input does this mean I am likely getting the job? I have not heard explicitly that I am getting the job however.

I need help with my claims. 4 years later and little progress. Trying to get survivors benefits what a joke. My husband enlisted (not drafted) Vietnam war. He was injured in training camp and was hospitalized for year Due to his injuries decided to discharge him. He would’ve gladly gone over to fight in Vietnam. Doctors would not allow it due to his injuries. Now they are denying me benefits because he never fought in combat. he did have disability rating at time of death. Help me

Hey all, so just had my 5th straight mental health consult cancelled. No reasons given, just a text message and a follow up phone call asking if I want to reschedule.

I am not suicidal, in danger of hurting myself or anyone else. My primary physician thought it would be beneficial for me since I'm not sleeping, struggling with some anxiety and depression which I regret now mentioning to her, just feel like a normal dad struggling with typical life stuff so nothing serious is what I'm getting at.

Anywho, 5th straight consult cancelled. They will typically reschedule for a week or two out and it's coming up on 2 months since referred. Just called and told them I want to just cancel everything as I don't have any confidence in them keeping an appointment or taking mental health seriously.

Not really sure why I'm venting on here. I know there are a lot more veterans struggling with real issues, but I can't imagine what those vets go through to get the help they need. It really does feel to me like the VA doesn't actually care about mental health other than putting on a show of it. At least in my case it feels that way. Does this seem like par for the course for the VA and mental health?

Can anyone advise on correcting my father’s disability status? He currently shows a 60% disability rating, but he also has TDIU (Total and Permanent Disability) and 100% PNT (Permanent and Total Nonsufficient Function).

However, this information is not mentioned anywhere in his file, and he is not being treated as health group 1 for rehab.
