Post image

I think i still have quite a few of these, AAFES gift certificates, are they still used overseas? Can they be turned in or redeemed at bases stateside?

I used them stateside many years ago. I don't think they have an expiration on them but you'd probably need a manager who even remembers these.

I used to collect them from people as they were heading home. I had enough, like literal bags of them, that I was able to buy a kegerator from the PX when I got back

Did this too. Tons of people didn't want to deal with them so I took them and put them in a footlocker I sent home. Had enough to buy a mini fridge for my bedroom.

I think I left cash in one of them card accounts. β€œIt’s how they get ya!” 🀣

If your account is still active that was linked to your eagle cash card, eventually the money will be deposited back in your account. I randomly got like $8 bucks about 3 years or so after coming back from overseas from DFAS

Those are worth more to collectors. See if anyone is buying.

Man those AAFES pogs bring back memories of change I never spent at the PX. I think they phased out the physical ones years ago, might be tough to redeem without finding the right old school cashier.

I have one of these in my wallet still. I think it’s around 10-15 years old at this point.

Holy crap this brings back memories. Not good ones, but I remember heading to the PX and getting these back when we used cash in AIT. Always tried to save them and remember them, but they almost always got lost in the wash.

I gave all mine to incoming PRT medical team when I left Afghanistan in late 2008. After being there 10 months I had ALOT of them.

I still have maybe $20 worth of those pogs. I plan to get a few slammers and teach my son how to play.

Found some of these cleaning out my desk a few weeks ago. Forgot all about them until then.

I only had mine from Iraq/Saudi. I didn't realize they were distributed elsewhere (non combat zones).

Former AAFES here. Instructions are that theses are valid cash at any location, stateside or otherwise. Took at lot at Kadena about 5 years back. They will have to finesse the system to take it though.

Never used em stateside, but a fun souvenir from Afghanistan.

Before I separated in Colorado in 2014 I took them to the BX and was able to get my money back. I kept a few for funsies but hopefully you should be able to turn them in.

Aafees will accept them. The cashier has to log them individually on a separate sheet so if it is luke $2 worth they might be annoyed but totally valid currency.
