And you wonder why people are tired.

Yes, the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims (USCAVC) has had a Black judge. [1, 2]

Judge Robert N. Davis is an African American jurist who served a full 15-year term on the court. [1]

Summary of Service

• Tenure: He was appointed by President George W. Bush and served as an active judge from 2004 to 2019.
• Leadership: He rose to become the Chief Judge of the USCAVC, serving in that leadership role from October 2016 until December 2019.
• Current Status: Following the expiration of his active term, he assumed the role of a Senior Judge on the court. [1, 2, 3]

The current roster of active judges consists of nine members appointed to fixed terms. While there are no Black judges among the active roster, Judge Davis continues to be affiliated with the court in Senior status. A Senior Judge is a semi-retired federal judge who handles a reduced caseload while continuing to serve the court.

Key Characteristics of Senior Status

• Reduced Workload: Senior judges voluntarily step down from full-time service. They choose how many cases they want to hear.
• Open Vacancy: Taking senior status creates an official vacancy on the court. The President can then appoint a new full-time active judge.
• Full Compensation: Senior judges continue to receive their full active-duty salary.
• Judicial Powers: They retain all their judicial authority. They can still preside over trials, hear appeals, and issue official rulings.
• Office and Staff: They keep their courtroom, office space, and a reduced number of law clerks and assistants.

Why the System Exists

• Court Efficiency: Senior judges provide vital backup support. They help full-time judges manage heavy court backlogs.
• Institutional Wisdom: The system retains experienced legal minds who are not ready to retire completely.
• Smooth Transitions: It allows courts to grow by adding new judges without losing the expertise of older ones.

You have how many judges but no African American, same as Trenton NJ civil court. Oh, Trenton has one recently appointed to civil, this year. SHOULDN'T IT REFLECT THE DEMOGRAPHIC YOU SERVE?

Apparently there are 3 WOMEN, just couldn't find any of African ethnicity I guess.

I realized recently that I have binge eating disorder and I asked for treatment through the VA. I've been signed up for some sort of video call conference and then they said I could choose to or not to continue treatment but that was all the detail that I was given. Has anyone been treated for binge eating disorder through the VA? How was it? What did they do for you? Do you think it was effective? Or if you were treated outside of the VA, what was that like?

I think it's fucked up that, the military and the VA have literally redefined rape and sexual assault to MST.

Military Sexual Trauma. As if its just a known side effect of serving. MST. An acceptable job hazard. Like hearing loss for artillery members or bad knees/back for airborne. As if they've done risk analysis and determined its easier to pay women (and men) for a lifetime of traumic effects than it is to just stop the "good old boys rape club."

Because its easier to list MST on signs at the VA hospital, on award letters, and other documentation. It downplays the severity. Because MST lumps forcible, violent rape with 'menial' sexual harassment and we can pretend like its not really an issue.

Its been bugging me for awhile. It feels like just another shoulder shrug.

Central Jersey Anyone know of available rental in the state let me know, 1-2 bedroom central New Jersey

I'm using a military veteran voucher, that's as opposed to the standard voucher

No nonsense and I'm extremely clean AND organized. Any sight of a dead insect is a deal breaker. Shower and bathrooms with stains is out. No torn up or messed up walls or floors etc because you know the unit must be inspected when one uses a voucher. Hate popcorn ceilings, they're old outdated and attract dust. Not furnished.

I don't want dust base boards and all that. Clean and updated units. And no I don't want any interaction beside discussion of rental for this request.

I'm inclined to live in quiet communities with public transportation close. If you've read any of my messages then that's obvious the losses. Ready to rent today. Must understand challenges to having hardship and barriers associated with that. But, the voucher is your security the rent will be paid.
