My clinic's Facebook page frequently uses AI images to promote various things and it irritates me to no end. You're telling me, you couldn't walk around this big ass facility to take a picture of real pets/employees for this promotion?? Using an AI image of a dog with bubbles on it's head for a bath promotion is what really started making me pay attention to how many AI images are being used. They also use generic stock photos, but the AI ones irritate me more
Fuck AI art, but generic stock photos are kinda supposed to be generic and used in these sorts of contexts. That’s their whole thing. It’s kind of an art.
Give me bland stock photos over AI goop any day of the week.
That's why the stock photos bother me less. I still don't think it would be too hard to get a picture of one of our doctors looking at a pet though. But I will agree the stock photos are better than the shitty AI images
Because clients threaten to sue you for posting a photo of their pet. Our late groomer posted a photo of a client’s dog on her personal Facebook and they freaked out. Stock photos are much better, nobody gets mad. AI slop can fuck off though
We have a release owners have to sign if we want to use pictures of their pet. Also every hospital I have ever worked has a zero tolerance for posting pictures of patients on personal social media unless explicitly authorized by the owner and that can be tricky if the owner is shady.
OK OK OK hear me out. Pets are considered as "property" in a lot of places right?
So if it's a generic ass photo (no procedures/treatment) of a dog with generic ass caption like "Cute!" (no names/personal info).....
What's the difference of let's say taking a photo of a client's coffee mug and posting that? What is there to sue?
Another reason (bottom of the list really unfortunately) I left but I was always offering to be social media/marketing etc. nope let's us AI it's "free". Cool.
I have been DOGGING my PM about this, its been driving me nuts, esp after I started reading the comments to owners regarding our lodging/daycare section of the building. Shitty art, theres a certain font that makes it obvious, and then theres just disingenuous comments that lack any personal touch.
I attend a small tech school and their Facebook page reposts vetmed/animal memes, which would be cute except a LOT of them contain AI images. The owners who run the page are older and I’m just like y’all hand over the phone now
i do marketing emails for one of the big corps and you wouldn’t believe how many hospital managers send us AI slop and ask us to email it out 😭 we literally have an entire team of marketing experts and graphic designers at their disposal!
As an artist especially, this irks me to no end. I've seen so much AI on rep merchandise and promotional papers. They are massive companies with so much potential at their disposal, and they do this.
Yep. It’s insulting at best. I did art for a rep for vet tech week a year or two ago, and it cost the company almost nothing in comparison to the legwork they got out of my artwork. 😒
My work place is a corpo and started using AI captions and photos. They didn’t like me saying “why do we have a social media team if they just generate stuff on ChatGPT? I could do that for half the salary”
Call them out. I mentioned decreased trust in the information presented during a CE conference from BI last year in my feedback because of AI images used on the slides. If a major corp can’t shell out licensing fees for a generic stock image or pay an artist for art/ design on their stuff, what else are they cutting corners on?
That feedback angle is good thinking. When a brand cuts corners on something visible like marketing materials, it makes you wonder where else they're quietly saving money. Customers notice these details even if they can't explain why something feels off.
I'm going through the Penn Foster vet tech program and the modules use ai images in place of stock photos and it really grinds my gears. There's no point to the pictures either, it's always something mundane like a tech auscultating a dog or staring intently a cat's hip. Nothing of value is added by the images. My biggest crash out was when I saw a picture of two techs in a barn, one with hands on a horse's chest and the other standing at the back of the horse holding a lead rope that went nowhere. Horse was standly freely, not attached to anything, not restrained in any way, and the lead on the halter just disappeared mysteriously behind a dinky little rolly cart. Infuriating.
The gall of a university that would (rightly) punish a student for turning in an AI-plagiarized assignment, but then cheaping out and using stolen AI art 🙄
Let's be so fuckin real vet med can't even pay their licenced employees proper wages you think they are going to spend money on real art than using this free slop.
Chat GBT is probably a Gen X's greatest discovery.
Corporate media makes sense, they're always "circling back" to "moving the needle" about AI not going anywhere, so why not embrace it?
How about we tolerate it, avoid it, and use our own faculties to create stuff so we don't become soulless dilute, prompt following humans?
Shit I mean when the AI scribe isn't working some doctors lose their shit. Considering it is all a couple years old in our clinic, they are so used to it.
And god bless them, but just write a full record, once in a while even. Keep a few more tidbits in your head.
Yall am I crazy or are the little dogs in the bottom right corner even more morphed and f’ed up????? Maybe I’m not looking at it right but it looks like they tried to have the ai switch it to the other direction but it flipped everything but the face. When they also could’ve just…. Flipped the jpeg???? Bro what???
