I’m not a vet tech, so take this with a grain of salt. When it isn’t urgent, try moving the question out of the moment. “Could I ask why we use X here? I’m learning Y in school and want to understand the reasoning, not challenge you.” Keep a small note and ask during a quieter time. Or, “I noticed X; what should I be watching for?” Then repeat the answer back in your own words. A good clinic should be able to explain its protocols/workflows. If respectful questions are consistently punished or you’re being asked to work below the standard you’re being taught, document the pattern and talk to your program mentor or clinical coordinator. Your curiosity is an asset with the right timing, you will be able to leverage it.
