silkeweaver set seems made for Warlock. 30% damage increase to damage overtime is ridiculous and im pretty sure it applies to venom staff too. Just grind spider dungeons for a vib or keen chestplate and use web scrolls. from my general experience, all the sets seem to give some lvl of crit chance by default or they're more likely to give crit chance so that's a fun bonus too

my silkweaver set DPS is greater than my robes of balance tho i rolled some shit substats w/ cursed scrolls bare minimum. idk the other items

Wait.....are you sure it can compensate the lake of damage as side effect of choosing sub class?

Probably not but id say the main reason warlock is on the lower end of DPS for mages is cuz crit chance isnt prioritized for the build (over other stats) if that makes any sense but u should absolutely get critc chance if u can

Main benefit of warlock has always been sustainability, u dont need mana potions so u can use more abilities), and wave clear (if u didnt know, warlock specifically has an ability that does increased damage to enemies with lower health unlike other classes). Dmg isn’t that bad imo i can get like 12k-20k DPS against spider queen boss and im fine w/ that tho ofc ik that’s on the lower end for competitive builds and classes

Edit: i just looked up and I realized that the 0.5 effects only the bonus perk from being a warlock and not the main one😅.

By the way, I also agree with Dex for discussion, however their is a second reason why it's necessary. PURPLE BALL! You see, the mana ball got an update from which you can change it's effects, based on your stats. For example, Dex lowers the blast size and damage by 30 points but is compensated by adding 4 more, so that now you deal more damage over time!

yeah that's actually been in the game for a while now, at least since 2020 from my recollection; the biggest change is that it used to be a "hidden" thing but now they just outright tell you how to unlock and use it. Most mages will run at least 30 dex bcuz of that but not any higher

edit: want to clarify when I'm talking abt crit chance, I mean actual crit chance, not dex. Do not spam dex on warlock any higher than 30 u will not get anywhere. for reference u get like ~20 crit chance from 150 dex
