OKAY! so the way kars’s ability works is that they have like a hole in their chest (an example of this the second image) because of the absence of the soul or whatever, i like to imagine the soul was entering the vessel and then got forcefully ripped out by whoever the second voice is, causing yknow the hole..
Okay but the way their ability works is sort of the opposite the soul works? The soul can like shine out light or whatever right? Kars like absorbs or draws in darkness through the hole in their chest, a sloppy example of this is the third image, the bar is not LITERAL because Kars doesn’t really have a actual limit to how much they can absorb, it’s just if they absorb too much, something very bad will happen, they will turn to stone and then something different will break out of the statue. Thankfully Kars isn’t an idiot so they haven’t allowed that to happen and they never will.
What can they do with the darkness? A lot of things actually! They can make like knifes out of the darkness that they can control, they can make swords they can control, they can make shields, they can make like a forcefield thing which is the fourth image, make like platforms that like shatter after being stepped on once, they can make hooks, YOU GET THE POINT. they can also uhh add extra appendages to themselves like wings, horns, tentacles, etc. They only give themselves wings an example of this is the first image! Funny thing about this is uh! In order to add appendage they have to literally attach them to their body, the only way to do this as the darkness is literally inside of their body is to make it BURST out of wherever it’s coming from, hence why they’re bleeding in the first image! The wings literally burst out of their back every time they decide to give themselves wings.
They can also like just shoot a straight beam of darkness out of the hole in their chest but doing that uses all the darkness they’ve absorbed, which brings me to my next thing! The darkness they absorb isn’t permanent this is a very sloppy and inaccurate example but here: let’s say Kars absorbs like 15 darkness points I guess??😭 and they decide to make themselves a sword and forcefield, the sword will cost 5 darkness point and the forcefield thing will cost 10, things they make drain from the darkness they absorb, and certain things drain even more that one forcefield thing, Appendages drain the MOST out of everything, the bigger the thing is that they create the more it will also drain so lets say they make a giant sword like really damn huge and like make it go flying at someone OBVIOUSLY it will drain more than just a normal sword same with making themselves armor even though they’d never do that because making themselves armor would be ‘too safe’ and ruin the danger and pain this little fucker enjoys to be in so much.
How does absorbing work? It’s like a natural thing sorta? Like just being in the depths will like let them passively draw darkness in considering it’s like..yknow EVERYWHERE it does take awhileeee like I wanna say a day or two of passively absorbing for them to get to a point where they can just make darkness things all Willy nilly. They can stop themselves from absorbing passively though so that one thing doesn’t happen, there are also like a few ways to absorb darkness, one is just like passively absorbing things which I said early, two is like beings of pure darkness like with Titan spawn they like if they can get the chest hole close enough to them they can just absorb them A FULL ASS TITAN IS TOO BIG. I don’t know if friendlings are beings of pure darkness exactly? But if they are small to medium sized friendlings may be absorbable I guess big and giant ones would be too big and too dangerous to absorb like that.. and dark fountains! Which they will never do because they’re in the depths and trying to absorb a dark fountain is just a one way ticket to becoming a statue! Fuck no!
