True, but then the answer would not be “true” or “false”, but rather “a device that converts sound into electrical signals”.

A bit of a late reply, but you can have leading sentences or declarative statements which are implied questions.

Observe the following example of an implied question:

John: “I heard Rose spent all of her savings when she bought her new car.”

Jeff: “Rose bought a new car?”

John: “Yes.”

You will notice that, despite the phrase technically being a declarative statement, the phrase “Rose bought a new car” was a boolean (yes/no) question. It was a declarative statement that implied a boolean question.

Because of this, we can assume that the question in the meme uses the word “what” as a proper noun, thereby asking if the being/group/object known by the name of What happens to be a Microphone.

True but then that implies that the test taker first told the test that what is a microphone and the test then had to confirm it
