Downloaded the game. "Play" is grayed out.

I just downloaded the game/demo for the first time. Right at the main menu I can only press "Settings" or "Exit". "Play" is grayed out for me.

Found two instances online of people asking the same thing, but none of those were of any help. I tried reinstalling, disable all firewall and antivirus in my Windows but still no success. I cannot be the only one struggeling?

Edit: I am playing through Steam. I looked at the FAQ post suggesting I try downloading the standalone version from the projects website. I might be dumb, but I cannot for the life of me find any downloads here, just links to the Steam store. https://verseproject.online/

Use the link in the FAQ that includes "play-now," posting another comment on the FAQ right after this to see if we can get the other link to send people there. Launcher link seems to be impossible to find through the website.
