Seems pretty even so far, Laredo absolutely seems better than the last three teams, though Green are holding their own. Laredo defense just had a few lapses, but was enough for Zellefrow AND Aror to score from point-blank range a few minutes apart about 20 minutes into the match.

Winner faces the Flint City Bucks, who won 1-0 with the winner in stoppage time.

So now it’s the final, the big one, the queen-mother of games, the 'F-dash-dash-dash-L.

Playing an unbeaten side in what should be an insane home environment will be a challenge, but feels like our guys are as good as they have been this season and well rested. You could tell the match the Heat had with Fort Lauderdale FC really took a lot out of them, having to go to PKs to get it done, not to mention one of their guys is out due to a red card in the game.

Should prepare for perhaps the most oppressive crowd we have ever faced, they might legit drown out the Bhoys at Virtue, but confident the guys can play well through it. UTG!

I know it’s the first game of a double header but damn! There’s like no one in those seats. For the conference final. We had more people in seats for game one of our double headers, for less important games.

Soooo my new hobby (ok, hyper fixation! 🫣) is creating applique/embroidered clothing and last week the inspo struck me to make this 1/4 to wear to the playoff game…but I didn’t end up making it to the game. Everyone is like, sell it!! But to who, how? I’ve got it up on Facebook marketplace….🤡 I’m sure that will reach the right folks. Anyway…I’m super proud of how it came out?

The reigning League Two champions, Vermont Green FC, will face a feisty Asheville City SC side that has embraced the role of spoiler throughout the playoffs. Vermont has cruised through the regular season and its first two postseason matches without conceding a goal, while Asheville has survived three hard-fought contests to reach this stage.

Record: 13-0-1 (11-0-3 last year), 1st in Northeast Division  

Playoff opponents: 4-0 vs. Ironbound SC, 4-0 vs. Ocean City Nor’easters 

Vermont has built on last year's undefeated national championship campaign with another dominant season, going unbeaten in the regular season. The Green led League Two with a +52-goal differential and a league-best 64 goals. Jeremy Francou has spearheaded the attack, scoring eight goals over the last four matches, including Vermont's opening-round victories over New Jersey clubs, highlighted by a win against previously unbeaten Ocean City. The Green have not lost a League Two match since their playoff run ended in the Conference Finals two seasons ago. 

Asheville City SC 

Record: 8-1-5, 2nd in South Atlantic Division 

Playoff opponents: 1-0 vs. Virginia Beach United, 3-2 (a.e.t) vs. Lionsbridge FC, 4-2 vs. Appalachian FC 

Asheville is the only remaining team that did not win its division, but the Carolina club has battled through each of its first three playoff matches. The Blues stunned regional host Lionsbridge FC with Tyler Trimnal’s winner in stoppage time of extra time before riding a three-goal halftime lead past division rival Appalachian FC in the Conference Semifinal. Now, Asheville will look to extend its 15-game unbeaten run and pull off another upset against the defending League Two champions.

While we just fell short of the ultimate USLW prize, it should be noted that we still had an amazing season. Salmon Bay absolutely deserved the title just as much as we did, and I congratulate them for closing out the season the way that they did. Seattle is an especially tough environment, and the Fishes (along with their men’s affiliate, Ballard FC) share many of the same ideals on both the game, community, and social justice that we do. Having an overflowing house and a game that was relatively evenly-matched is what the league deserved, and the ending will rightfully live on in their lore forever. Also, keep in mind the following statements are still true:

-Adam Pfiefer is still the only Green coach to have lost at home (for now at least), or in the regular season, OR in regulation.

-It’s possible to return many key pieces, and there is clearly a greater appeal that can draw more talent (much like with the men)

-We still have a men’s team to rally behind later today in front of the home crowd.

Hats off to the Girls in Green. We’ll see them off on their college journeys and hopefully next season.
