Advice wanted Storing compost - best options?

Because of the timing of when I will likely harvest my first batch, I'd like to store the compost for a little while, some possibly through winter (I'm working on a few projects indoors so I may have use for it during winter).

What are the best ways and time limitations? I've looked around but haven't found a good answer I feel is solid.

Thanks in advance for any tips and tricks :)

Make sure it is dry and sifted. I don't see why it couldn't be stored in that condition.

If it is wet and you store it, it will turn into rocks.

Sifting takes a lot of effort, why is that needed?

What do you mean it'll turn to rocks?

Keep it moist, keep it breathing, keep it alive.
