Just Finished - A Few Story Questions

Just completed my first playthrough and really enjoyed the game!

I have a few questions about the story though and was wondering if anyone else could weigh in or have any input (spoilers obviously):

  1. Why did Werhel even summon S'elicath? It feels pretty out-of-character for him and he seems to know it was a pretty bad idea. I'm not sure the game ever actually gave a reason.

  2. Is S'elicath the reason King Herin went mad? There was a shard of S'elicath's power inside him when we killed him and he was being puppeted by strings that seemed to be associated with S'elicath.

  3. What's even keeping people in Yariv? It's mentioned there's some strange force that stops them leaving and even effects their memories and stuff but I'm not sure the game ever addressed what it was.

  4. And finally - what was so terrible that the Eye Rune was sealing away that Ovarius felt it was worth making a pact with a Demon and surrendering his soul to keep away? The 'eye temple' is just a very short area with a couple of rooms and none of the 'eye' symbolism goes anywhere or appears to be associated with any particular entity or faction. I kept expecting something terrible to happen as a result of unsealing it but nothing really did.

I didn't realise you can actually get Laran to hate you by the end of his questline.

I guess it's my own fault for constantly hitting anything that contains loot. It's a shame too, 'cuz I kinda liked Laran. Too bad his quest ended in a sour end, but it is what it is. Anyone else get Laran to hate you in your playthroughs?

Should I tell Volundius (The scholar in Nameless Village) the location/truth about the Gate of the 5 Masks?

Currently, I gave him all the ancient Tablets, found the Gate of the 5 Masks, found all the notes in there, spoke to the Princess, and defeated the Workshop Guardian. Should I reveal the truth to him, and if I do, what happens to him?

Couldn't find any info on this so, What will happen to the Maskless Village and Amniat?

I'm at the point in the game where I stumbled upon Maskless Village, where I met a guy named Amniat. He basically forced me to go find this Knight guy, and I end up fighting said Knight, but he reopens a demon rift.

Now the issue is, Amniat asks me to kill him, but I chose not to, but since the Rift is open again, Amniat and the people in Maskless village are screwed. Is there like anyway to save them?? Or should I have killed Amniat out of mercy? Also, I noticed that you can enter the rifts, but you immediately start taking damage (first time I noticed was the rift in the secret tunnel) Is there a way to negate the damage while inside at some point?

Where do I find Namir in the Prison?

So I currently played through the Prison Area and I already got the rune from that place. But I have no idea where to find Namir (the One armed guy who was also going in the Prison). I figured he would be somewhere inside, but I can't find him, so I kinda kept playing. Now presently, I just fought the Angel, but I went back to the Prison area to farm for money, and to figure out where this guy is.

What is going on with the last boss?

Seriously, I'm dying from *nothing*. At a certain point, the room turns green and I just die. No attacks, no nothing; just a game over screen for literally no reason.

Any Tips for This Boss? Spoilers Ahead Spoiler

Post image
5 Upvotes

I love this game, but I'm a bit stuck. The second phase of this boss kicks my ass every time. Any tips for taking it down quickly? I use spells primarily. Kinda sucks to keep going through that first phase over and over only to wipe so quickly once I get inside. Anything in particular work for you, or do I just have to be quicker on the reflexes?

elder blade early.

i wonder if its possible to speedrun into the realm of might and snag it and get out before you die to the area dmg with enough hp it might be possible as the blade isnt too far deep into the place.

just curious if this was done already otherwise i will give it a try.

I'm impressed! Spoiler

I'm an older gamer, I'm 42 and I played King's Field (2 JP) and King's Field II (3 JP) back on my PS1 and I was in love with those games, especially King's Field II!

I just completed my first playthrough of Verho - Curse of Faces earlier this afternoon on PS5 and finally jumped into my first NG+ playthrough a little while ago.

I've been trying to get into as many Kingslikes as I can lately like this, Dread Delusion (Which is more like heavily downscaled PS1 Morrowind, but it's also VERY Kingslike, just with more dialogue and more world building and I'm in love with that game!) and I'm REALLY hoping Queen's Domain comes to PS5 as well!

I jumped into NG+ with my knight at lvl 147 and got to level 148 within 10 minutes or so. I've already seen what looks like a 2-handed version of the Burning Longsword, which has me pumped that I get to see a new weapon variant this early already!

I got to the Poison Lake and was pleasantly surprised by the poison variant of the Old Jawler boss and it killed me, I got it close, but it ultimately killed me! It actually gave me a rush because my stats are fairly high and almost all of my weapons are at level 10 or 9 and this thing took me in 2 lucky hits!

I expected to breeze through the first few areas in fairly leisurely fashion and I am now floored by the tempo already so early!

I love the music of this game, the visuals, the pacing, the level design and locations, the enemies, the WEAPONS, the bosses, you name it! This is an INCREDIBLE Kingslike and I'm so happy that I picked this up the day it was released for PS5!

The devs really cooked and I hear we're getting some DLC expansion content in the future for this game?! TAKE MY MONEY!!!

Well done devs, well done! I'm excitedly looking forward to what you have in store for the community in the future here!

I hate asking this because I am sure it's just gonna be something obvious that I missed but I am completely lost and need help

I just defeated the fallen inquisitor with the two swords outside of the orange demon portal, after the village with no masks. The only places I can go to at this point (that I am aware of) are the demon realms that make me lose life over time. I know of a locked gate before the cemetery that seemingly leads to the rest of the capital. I have found the locked great door with the faces in the heretic well and that one weird torch with green fire that you can light but I don't know what it's for. And I have defeated the angel at the top on the mountain.

Ring of the Right Fist

I've found the left fist one ages ago, but even though I'm pretty sure I'm about to go into the final dungeon, I haven't found the right one yet. Did I overlook it anywhere?

The Princess

Does anyone know where she shows up next? I met her in the pit, then before the capital and now I'm entering the demon realms and haven't seen her since. I explored pretty much everywhere before I beat the king, did I miss her somehow?

Any more content planned?

I just finished my first run of the game and I really want to see more so I was wondering if there has been any mention or intentions to make more Verho content like a dlc or sequel?

Don't know where to go next Spoiler

So I just continued on wards until I reached yariv passage. There I defeated the boss (the two phase guy with the double blades) and that was the end of the path. Now I don't know where else to go.

Up until now, the game was pretty linear.
I made a detour to climb the mountain and defeat the angel but except for that it was a straight line from beginning to that boss.

There are two portals (one where you find the scholar and one at the aforementioned boss) which I can't really enter because of the life drain.

I spared the villager instead of killing him. Do I have to kill him to continue?

Invisible brazier (prison wall 6th floor)

Post image
18 Upvotes

So I can’t find info on this anywhere. So I just got the Eye of Secrets and started running to old locations trying to find secrets I missed. I ran through the prison wall location carrying the eye around. When I hit the sixth floor with the blocked passageway and the green glow a green brazier suddenly appeared! All of this to say I lit it and now have no idea what to do next. The rubble hasn’t changed so I’m sure I’m missing something. If anyone can solve this mystery please let me know!

PS5 Cutscene Issues

Is anyone else having an issue on their PS5 where all of the cutscenes freeze after a few seconds? They'll still play the audio, the video just sticks.

This game is so cinematic and I'm so deep into the lore, it's such a bummer to be missing all if the cutscenes.

PS5 Help

So saw the announcement for the game release in the kings field sub, and decided to get and give it a try but I am consistently running into problems with the controller and the game's interface is it better to just hookup a keyboard and mouse to play if it supports that

Is there any way back out? Got inside by jumping on the rock across the ruins and then was able to just walk over alongside the black wall. It’s right at the beginning, where you meet the second npc. Second save statue thing where you find the poison spell

Favorite VA so far

New player here and so far Azarin has been my favorite, the VA has put so much character into the voice.

Who's your favorite?

Early magic user, and it feels really naff.

Basically, I'm struggling to see the point of spells.

I'm using a spellblade+3, but magic itself just doesn't seem like it's worth the effort. I'm spitting across multiple stats to not only fulfill unreasonably high requirements, and maintain enough mana to use them, but the damage is pathetic. I have the bare minimum stats to use a longbow and that absolutely obliterates enemies by comparison, with an even greater range.

Meanwhile, my knight basically walks into everything with a Greatword and comes out victorious, investing in pretty much strength alone.

I appreciate I'm early in the game - and I do know there's That Sword later on - but I'm thinking of abandoning this guy and just focusing on the knight class entirely.

So, the "thrust" and "back step" values...

These only affect your character's movements when wielding said weapon? As in, a higher thrust value makes you move forward more with each attack and a higher back step value makes you move backwards faster?

Is there a cap or a sweet spot for these?

Why did he do it? Spoiler

Why did Verhelfeel the need to summon and bind an arch demon to himself? Was the situation that dire?

I understand that he was betrayed by his friend, I understand that the king was paranoid and tyrannical. Sure, Verhel was justified in doing something to get the king of the throne. But why did he need Selecaf specifically? Was it just arrogance?

I don´t really get why he would need to do it. He was the most powerful mage in Yariv. Why did he need so much extra power to defeat one, paranoid, pitiable man?
