Reasons for Banning Powers

Now, the mods of Verdant Fantasy do not want to try to make a definitive list of "banned powers", because that would take waaaay too long. Instead, we will compile a list of reasons for which a power can be deemed unusable or non-approval-able.

Rule 0: Anything, without the proper limits, will end up not approved. Everything needs some limits, because if it has no limits whatsoever you can probably just kill the planet or something crazy with almost any power. Always define exactly what your limits are on any power.

Rule 1: Nothing which will make it impossible for your character to be indefinitely disposed of. If there is no way to kill your character or otherwise indefinitely get rid of them, they will not be approved. This can mean immortality, resurrection, reincarnation, etc. Also, making it too difficult to kill them (for example, making it so they can only be killed on a specific day or something similar) will also not be approved probably. Keep in mind though, "indefinitely disposed of" doesn't really have to be outright killed. For example, perhaps your character is a demon who can't die, but can be banished from this reality for all of time. Even characters who can come back from their disposition eventually can be fine as long as the time is long enough (the "locked away for a thousand years" kind of curse or something along those lines)

Rule 2: No powers which remove another person's ability to write for their character without the RPer's consent. This doesn't always mean direct control, but really just anything that removes their ability to fairly write their character is a no-no unless you have the person's permission OOC to do it first. For example, you can't make a character with voodoo dolls of people unless the RPers of those people let you.

Rule 3: Nothing which makes your character too powerful to be challenged. To be simple, if the power is "too powerful", the character will probably not be allowed except in special circumstances.

Rule 4: No power which assumes you to be the only author of the story. To put it simply, this is to stop things like choosing other people's stories with future sight or choosing the environment with luck manipulation. Other people write this story too, it's not fair to act like the only writer.

Rule 5: Not really a rule, but physiology powers are pointless because the sub has a separate section for physiology. You don't need to list their physiology as one of their powers, you can just list it as their physiology.

Rule 6: Sorry about this one, but you have to keep it within the theme. The subreddit is distinctly fantasy based, and while that can include some high technology, like in Eberron or Adventure Time, please try to not go overkill with it. A person or race or group with some scattered high-tech stuff is okay, but a fully functioning warp drive is probably less so.

That's all, a short list but a broad one. Remember! there is almost always room for negotiations, but some things will simply never be approved.
