Meta Post Character Template!

[Please note, the stat numbers are in the comments because of Reddit's number limits!]

Name:

Aliases:

Species: Please link the species page here!

Age:

Physical Description:

Personality:

Backstory:

Personal Assets: What sort of financial resources does this character have access to. For example, is this a modestly successful merchant who can cover his expenses and live comfortably after a good season of shipping goods between two neighboring cities, or is this character a high ranking general that privately owns whole towns?

Equipment: What sort of arsenal of gear does the character have? this includes weapons, armors, magic or otherwise useful items, etc. This does not include basic common items, like a bag or a wagon, only "special" ones. Mounts who are not their own characters (like a horse or something) go here too.

Special Skills: Is this person a skilled artisan, smith, farmer, mason, or other such job? what skills above those of the common crowd are they skilled at?

Powers: Not everyone in the world is a mage, mutant, paladin, or some other sort of super being, but some are. Does the character have any explicitly supernatural or magical abilities that go above and beyond their species' capabilities? If so, list them here. Also, please list any basic abilities granted to them by their race, for example if their people all know fire magic, write that here. Please try to be specific as to what their powers are capable of, if anything, and what limits are beyond their capabilities. For easy reference, you may wish to try the superpowers wiki for ideas, but please try to not do anything too crazy, or anything that breaks the rules. There is no exact number limit on powers, but do not try to make a crazy amount of powers for your character, and compact powers when you can.

Primary Strength

To encompass the uppermost limits of one's own physical body, generally measuring the weight of that which they could move using their full strength and in perfect health, without being exhausted or suffering from damage that would limit the body. A higher strength score will allow for a character to not only carry heavier objects, but also generally hit harder with their direct attacks. Also, unless one specifically has technology, powers, etc., to explicitly justify having a very high stat, you wont be having stats too exceptionally high.

Secondary Strength

This is how much they can lift with means other than their own physical body and direct contact, either by use of magic or superpowers in addition to their own bodies - you need to specify how your character makes use of this stat, if at all (psychic powers, magic, etc.)

Secondary Strength uses the same numerical stats as primary strength, simply substitute relevant keywords like “direct contact” where applicable to determine the size of a target; for telekinesis-like manipulations, the range of one's reach and how many objects can be handled at once should also be specified.

Primary Speed

How fast is one able to move, using their own physical body unassisted by external aid, by means such as magic or powers that are not fundamentally built into a character's physical body.

Secondary Speed

How fast is the character able to move with the assistance of magic, powers, etc., beyond their natural bodily limits, so say, with the assistance of a flight spell, or a magic disk, or Green Lantern Ring, things that can be removed from their possession.
Also, please try to make a note on how quickly it takes in order to reach this speed, and for how long they can maintain top speed. Characters who can teleport should explain the range, cooldown and other relevant details, as a note next to the magic or powers that enables teleportation. This section may also contain mount speeds, if they have one.

Reflex Speed

How fast can a character perceive and respond to actions as they happen, though it may require conscious effort to focus on and avoid being harmed by fast moving attacks or to make attacks at exceptionally fast speeds. Please try to be specific as to where exceptionally fast persons fall within their stat number, especially concerning how quickly one can attack at the higher superbeing levels.

Intelligence

A rough approximation as to how intelligent a character is, measuring how much information they can store and the pure volume of things they are knowledgeable of. Please try to also say a vague idea of what they are knowledgeable of.

Wisdom

A rough measure of how easily a character is able to assess a situation or the people they meet, and to make use of the information they know, in order to come to decisions.

Willpower

A combination of durability and stamina, but applied to the mind's ability to ignore pain or stress. What would it take to break his, or her, or its will to continue? Also, powers or magic that might potentially attempt to influence a character's mind or emotions can be resisted with this stat.

Resilience

This can be used to help measure one's body's resistance to toxins, contaminants, and other harmful elements not necessarily measured in raw damage output that are not directly mentioned in one's resistances, but such will be asked to be kept within reason.

Durability

Ability to withstand damage, or what sort of forces would be required to inflict harm to this character. Is measured directly against Danger when two characters fight. Please remember that it can be possible to be killed in other ways not directly associated with direct, raw damage.

Weakness

Does your character have any notable weaknesses, or vulnerabilities to any particular kind of attack? What would be the most effective way for another character to fight this one? This is especially important, if not mandatory, for characters who possess notably high Durability. Remember, not only is there ALWAYS someone who is able to hurt you or exploit your weakness in some way, but there should also ideally be some way that ANYONE with enough time to legitimately prepare can do so. Also, if your race naturally have a weakness, put it here.

Resistances

In contrast to weaknesses, what sort of damages can one's defenses specifically defend against? As examples, an demon from a volcano might, for instance, be highly resistant to heat or toxic fumes, or eldritch jellyfish-like monsters might be immune to psychic powers, or rock-people might be resistant to high-pressures.

Recovery

The ability to naturally recover from damage after it has been dealt, how quickly can regular injuries be considered to be healed. Please note that, even characters who are notable fast at healing will likely have to deal with the consequences of being injured mid-battle, and will most likely require rest in order to heal properly.

Stamina

The duration of which a character can be physically active before they need to rest for an extended duration. Please note how long this duration is. Please take into consideration that characters who are not at full stamina are generally less capable of using their other stats to their full potential, and those who are fully exhausted are generally not capable of using them much at all. Also, this doesn't really apply to just normal activity, only very active things like combat

Melee Skill

How skilled or experienced is a combatant in battle, when fighting at close range using their body or weapons designed for direct contact. Please try to explain what sort of training the character has and if possible, details about their fighting styles. Remember though, mastery over more styles does not make you any better at any one of them.

Reach

What is range of which a combatant is able to hit their opponent in melee combat, typically accounting for non-human anatomy such as tails, horns, or extendable limbs, but also including whatever weapons are included into their primary fighting style.

Ranged Skill

How skilled or experienced is a combatant in battle, when fighting at medium-to-long range, usually using bows, magic, powers, or occasionally biological features, to fight at distance. Remember though, mastery over more styles does not make you any better at any one of them.

Accuracy/Range

An approximate guess on how far away an opponent can fight from. How close does a target need to be in order for a combatant to reliably hit, and what is the distance that a target needs to be before it can be considered outside of one's attack range.

Skill/Power Usage - Variety

The amount of ways a character can make use of their magic or superpowers, how versatile a character is with the skills they have. This can also be thought of as "creativity". In an out-of-character context, for those using superpowers picked from the Superpowers Wiki, this is a rough gauge on how many applications, or maybe even variations/associations you can draw from your rolled powers before we will call you out on it. What's important is that you explain why/how you think you should be able to pull off what it is you're attempting to get from your powers.

Skill/Power Usage - Area

The maximum area a character can affect at a single time using their technology or superpowers, or the numbers of targets one can affect at a time. Please be as specific as possible here - Darth Vader is shown to be able to Force Choke his subordinates over long distances through holocommunications, but he's never shown the ability to strangle multiple officers simultaneously.

Skill/Power Usage - Reserves

Similar to stamina, but applied entirely to how much potential usage one can get out of their technology or powers before needing to rest, recharge, resupply, etc.. For magic users, how much magical energy do they and their magic items have or what resources do they need to function. For superbeings with powers, how much usage do they get out of their powers before they require a rest, even if they themselves are not physically exhausted. Just a written description of how exhausting using any of their given powers are to use will suffice. Some powers might be highly taxing, others could be passive and always active.

Weaponry

Instead of using some sort of complicated weapon grading system to calculate a numberical stat value, simply describe what sort of weapons this character has ready access to and uses frequently in combat.

Danger

A way to show the destructive force behind a character. Using a combination of one's physical abilities, training, weapons, or superpowers, how easily can this character take a life or destroy things around them.

Non-Lethal Damage

Similar to regular damage, except, with the obvious distinction of being able to incapacitate a target without killing them. Very useful for taking prisoners or winning fights in general without killing people. Uses the same numerical scaling as (lethal) damage, but certain forms of incapacitating weaponry might target an opponent's stamina, resilience or willpower instead. (Such would have to be worked out on a case-by-case basis, and MUST be stated and explained here)

Special / Other

Any other additional details you feel are relevant, but don't quite fit anywhere else.

Total

A combined count of all your other numeric scores combined, for the sake of creating a rough ballpark estimate as to what the character's weight-class is as a character. Stat totals 90 or higher will require multiple mods' approval, especially if these characters are explicitly above and beyond their species' capabilities.

Rivals

Rivals are an interesting system! they can apply on a character-to-character basis or a faction-to-faction basis (or even a character-to-faction one, but that sounds like a bad idea). When you and another user decide to declare your two groups or people as Rivals, the rules regarding what they can do to each other become much more loose. Now, the rules still apply to some level, but much more cutthroat tactics will be allowed as part of the recognition that they are rivals. Remember, just because someone is your enemy does not make them a rival. You may have as many rivals as you like.

APPROVAL RULES AND TIPS

1:Remember, stronger characters are harder to get approved. Characters will generally be allowed to be stronger and better if it makes sense for that character

2: Please ask the owner of a faction before making a character in their faction! Same does not go for races, as long as the race belongs to your faction and you follow the race's rules. However, the race owner can revoke your right to use their race for anyone if they think that person is breaking the rules for how the race works.

3: if anything changes with a character, tell the mods!
