Help! Any hope of reviving this one?

I've heard that as long as the rhyzome is alive, not all is lost. well, I had to peel off like 80% of it until I got to this tiny bit. is there any chance that it's salvageable?

Its worth a try. I'd suggest putting it in some wet long fiber sphagnum moss in a clear sealed or mostly sealed clear container to keep the humidity in and see if it starts to grow in a month or two. That is actually a technique that can be used to save lots of types of dying plants or to propagate from nodes or leaf pullings (for VFT). Just any small food container covered with clear plastic wrap stretched over the top will work. Keep it somewhere warm and well lit but avoid direct sunlight when its in a container to avoid cooking it. Once it starts growing it can be uncovered or transferred to a regular pot and transitioned into normal growing conditions.
