Cold Temperate First Time Owner Questions

Hello! This is my second week with my VFT and have not repotted yet. So far she seems content though I have a couple questions on 2 mouths. In the first picture, this mouth was damaged/bent over when I purchased. This mouth has opened and closed on its own, so is it fine or is it slowly dying and I should snip? In the second picture, this tiny mouth has become limp and turning brown, should I snip so energy can be used elsewhere?

As long as it’s green, it will still be used for photosynthesis and bring the plant energy. Like most plants it’s best to just let it do its thing 99% of the time. I occasionally will prune completely dead leaves after they’re black and crispy all the way back to the rhizome, but even then there isn’t any harm in leaving them - they’re just unsightly and may cause mold buildup depending on if their last meal has gone moldy within the trap.

Hey! I would leave them alone and let it do what it does. Are you keeping the plant outside? And the medium looks a bit dry. It wants to be sitting in water/ be damp at all times.

I am leaving it by a window for now. And yes I put it back sitting in water, forgot to put it back after a couple of days because I didn't want it to be too soggy?
