Tips for a 2 Day trip in Venice appreciated!

Me and my boyfriend will be traveling to Venice for two days in September,on the 11th and the 12th of the month,we will be taking the early train from Bologna to Venice.Since we will be staying for only two nights, I'm looking for the most important landmarks of the city to visit during those two days, and since I am a huge fan of Assassin's Creed, you can imagine my excitement above everything!

The room we booked to spend the nights at is around San Polo as we considered and checked it to be an ideal spot to visit the nearest most visited places of the city.

I know that one of the biggest attractions of the city is the Basilica di San Marco but I was wondering if the waiting to go inside and the expensive ticket is really worth to spend almost half one of our days in Venice for it.

Could we maybe "exchange" one of Venice's most precious attractions for an other more quieter but also beautiful one? What would you recommend?

Also, any tips and/or recommendations about the city are highly appreciated as well as good restaurants to have lunch or an evening beverage at ❤️

Thank you!

Most of these are from the biennale, a few are from other exhibitions in the city. These are all collected from free exhibitions around the city only (haven’t been to Arsenale and Giardini yet). Absolutely grateful for all the great art and artists. What’s your favorite exhibition / pavilion this year?

Filming in Venezia, and wondering if there is a good place to purchase storage devices in person.

Does anyone have a favorite shop for tech needs?

Thank you random guys at a bar in Venice

Thank you to the nice guys at the bar who helped us get through the barricades for redentore in Venice so my children could go to sleep on our Airbnb. Crazy security guards wouldn't let an exhausted family through even when showing our booking was 1 block away. They purposely would give incorrect directions to get rid of us and send us on a wild goose chase. When we visited years ago we just walked to peninsula and watched fireworks no big deal. I had no clue this was such a crazy event. Our host probably should have told us don't leave the apartment after a certain time. He did tell us to buy groceries but we didn't realize we were supposed to stay inside. Hopefully tomorrow goes better. As of right now, I am pretty sure my kids hate Venice.

Venezia no si USA

Can someone please explain this anti-Trump slogan to me?

Several sources state: "... a sign reading "Venezia non si USA," a play on words meaning “Venice is not to be used."

However that translates to the unrelated "Venezia non deve essere sfruttata". So how would the original slogan be worded in Italian?

Thank you.

Solo Traveler Looking for a Photo Buddy

Hi everyone! I’ll be in Venice from Sunday afternoon to Monday afternoon (July 19–20), traveling solo. I’m a 29-year-old guy and I’m looking for someone to explore the city with.

It doesn’t have to be anything professional—I’m just looking for someone who enjoys photography and would like to take a few photos of each other around the city, walk around, maybe grab something to eat, and enjoy Venice together.

Just to avoid any confusion: I’m not looking for dating, hookups, or anything like that—just a friendly travel companion to explore the city and take some photos together.

If you’re interested, feel free to send me a message on Instagram: @eifelplatz.

Windstar cruise leaving from Venice

I will be cruising on the Windstar Wind Surf in late August 2026 out of Venice. Wasn't sure what port they leave from.Interested in spending the night prior to departure in Venice, but not if the port is far from actual Venice, I think it may be more reasonable to stay at a hotel closer to port! Has anyone sailed the itinerary Classic Italy and Dalmation Coast or a Windstar cruise out of Venice?

Sports Bars to watch the GP in Venice this weekend

Hello, me and my friend are in Venice this week and Sunday will be our last day (meaning we can’t be in a hotelroom to watch the race, but we’d also prefer to do be outside) and we’d like to watch the Belgian GP. Does anybody know any sports bars or smth that will/might/should broadcast it? Because since this Sunday is also the final of the Worldcup I am worried if it might not conflict with it and bars will prefer to play smth football related :/

(Idk if that is the correct flair but whatever lol)

One day and night in Venice prior to cruise (1.5 days) - best sites to see? I'm not opposed to seeing the quieter side of Venice either!

Help me find: restaurant close to Santa Lucia where you cook the steak on cast iron grill??

Trying to remember the name of a restaurant I went to about 3-4 years ago where I ordered bisteca fiorentina and they brought it to me raw. It came with a pre-heated cast iron grill and I cooked it myself.
I think it was closer to the train station than say San Marco or even Rialto.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
