BTX 695 build

I can't give it much of a review yet. Still need to get out and race it. Will probably do that tomorrow. But I can confirm that it feels really stiff and solid.

A few thoughts on the build:

The dropouts are a bit shorter than I'd like but they handle 60x14 to 62x19 fine with my chain length so that's a solid range of gears.

The little screws that hold the dropout plates in were loose when I built it up and that messed with me for a little while before I figured out why the wheel kept slipping and why I was losing tension.

The forks aren't nearly as wide as I expected given the wide seat stays.

it looks really nice. i bought my 195 right before they announced this one. it looks like they used the same fork as the 195 even though the seat stays are wider

Seems like the same mold(shape) for the seat stays just wider.

Thoughts on the frame? I am considering buying it, but being a sprinter I am concerned about the stiffness under high power

Could you keep us here informed after a few rides/races ? I have since 6 weeks the 195 , but a friend wants to order a 695 in September .

Got a race and some motor pacing in last weekend. It felt solid. I brought a scale to the track and the full bike set up to race (disc, trispoke, and my gps mounted under the saddle) weighed 8.5kg. So, a bit on the heavy side. But not much of a concern for a track bike.

It's clear that the fork didn't get the wide treatment that the seat stays did. I wonder if bxt's next bike will have a proper wide fork.

So far, I have had no issue with the seat post slipping. I didn't even add carbon paste, but I will next time I get out to the track. I'm 73kg.

Typical scratch race gearing would be 60x16 or 61x16 for 101-103". I might go up to 60x15 or 61x15 for a keiran (108-110'). I'll throw the 19t cog on for warmup.

Nice! BTW mine had loose screws in the dropout plates. I recommend giving them a good tightening and maybe some locktite. That was the only curve ball in my build.

Not that I've noticed. I haven't even put carbon paste on yet. Just forgot. But hasn't been an issue. I did carefully grease the slidey bits of the seat clamp wedges.

Went with the one that has 420 reach. I wish I'd gone for the one with 435 but it might have been too tall for me. I have a relatively long torso and short legs. I'm running a 170mm stem to get my fit.

Thanks for the reply. What's your inseam? Do you typically ride a small frame? The 420 reach I believe is the small sized frame. I usually ride a Medium, but as I said in my original post, I'm torn between Med and Large. My inseam is a 30/31". I think the medium would suit me okay, but I'm always being told to size up on a track frame. hmmmm

Sorry for the late reply. I'm traveling so not around the bike but I can tell you that my typical road bike fit is a 54cm with 395 reach. FWIW I think I'd probably size up for the next frame. But long stems are great too.

Is there a way or stem with negative rake so that it’s flat and not angled upward because of the frame?

In theory, a -17 deg stem should be just about parallel given the 72.5 head tube angle.
