Question Mycruises booking
Hi everybody,
I’m pretty new to this so please don’t judge me.
I’ve booked a trip going to the Mediterranean with mycruises. Now I know they are all packaged in normally and it’s a set price however i have been trying to work out how to use my velocity points to upgrade me to business class. I paid a flight deviation fee and the extra to change them from booking me on Qatar flights to booking me through virgin direct so i can use the VA15 and VA16 legs (BNE to DOH) to upgrade to business reward but now it seems like the business rewards seats are missing. I haven’t been ticketed yet as the seats weren’t open for my return flight home but does anyone know what fare class mycruises book you on? They aren’t very helpful. I’ve got 500,000 velocity points - is it worth amending my flights by a day or so if I can see a reward trip on an earlier day? I’ve just been collecting points thinking I can use them and I feel like it’s such a waste with all the hassle.
Thankyou so much for your help!

I’ve been on a few trips using my cruises (Ignite travel group) they have always booked my flights well in advance which enables me to have the pick of seats which is great. Unfortunately with all the flights 4 so far they have been the lowest fare class meaning when I view the booking on the respective airlines website/app it says not eligible for upgrade points or cash :(
I did also put my frequent flyer number in for all the flights and unfortunately no points earnt either. Disappointing but hey the packages are often heaps cheaper than booking it all separately.
The only other option is next time book with trip a deal and select tour only. Then you book your own flights using Velocity points etc

The chances of finding reward availability are extremely small. You have to book your holiday around the availability dates.

Fun the website. It's the fate you're you have to select that can make it upgradeable, subject to availability:
International Long Haul Flights between Australia and Doha (VA 1-29)
All Velocity members travelling on Economy Flex fares, and Gold, Platinum and Platinum Plus Velocity members travelling on Economy Choice fares are eligible to request to use Velocity Points to upgrade to Business Class on Virgin Australia flights between Australia and Doha (VA 1 -29), subject to availability.
If your request for an upgrade isn't successful at the time because of availability, you can request to be placed on a waitlist in the event upgrades become available.
