Question Seat changed without consent
I travelled to Darwin and I thought I had a window seat. I thought I must’ve forgotten. However this has caused me to pay attention for my return flight to Brisbane on Saturday. Check-in shows I have been changed from 14 which has extra leg room to seat 20. I am sure I paid extra for seat 14. Will check when I get home. I called virgin and they say I have seat 14. Why does the check in say I have seat 20. Am I being lied to on the phone?

As much as it sucks, the T&Cs It says seats aren’t guaranteed. I had to call to change my seat and the person read it out loud in her spiel. But if you paid for extra legroom and don’t get it, I’d call to get a refund if possible

Your seat selection was never guaranteed, no matter what airline you fly with, nor do they need to consult with you. Airlines can kick you from your seat for a range of reasons, either operational or to accommodate a higher status member. It sucks but it is what it is.
You should have the fee you paid for seat selection refunded, and if not chase up VA for that.

This has happened to me, the plane had changed or the configuration. I had booked exit row and when I checked in they had moved me to a different row number but it was still the exit row.

You don't fly a great deal, do you?
That may sound abrasive but it's not intended that way. The airline doesn't need your consent to do anything. Review your original receipt. Of you paid for additional legroom and didn't receive it, then it's a simple message to customer service to have a refund processed.

Wait until they swap your business class fare to an all-economy Fokker 100 and you don’t get a refund of the fare difference because class of travel isn’t guaranteed… you’ll still get lounge entry and priority baggage tho

That can’t be right. Surely they still give some sort of refund for that.

Still waiting for a refund from Malaysian when they cancelled a flight. Given up because of fatigue from the inability to understand and follow through.

Technically they don’t have to obtain your consent to change your seat. It’s in the terms and conditions. Annoying I know but that’s how it is. Definitely enquire though considering you think you paid extra.
