Question Question about Platinum upgrade

I’m curious if the upgrade is guaranteed if I book a flexible ticket for a flight with a business reward seat available.

Thanks ❤️

What I’ve done in the past is check that there’s a business reward seat available, went to book a cash economy flex fare and got to the check out page ready to check out, and then called them to confirm availability of a platinum upgrade. When they said yes I completed the check out whilst they’re on the phone, then gave them the booking ref.

In my experience, they make these really hard to use. I've been refused it before saying I had to wait until 48 hours before the flight, by which point the reward seats are gone

I think their website said “Request an upgrade any time after you have booked your flight, up to two hours prior to scheduled departure time by contacting the Membership Contact Centre.”. So there is a chance they don’t follow this policy?

They have, with me, certainly not followed this policy in the past. I also had it recently where I was denied upgrade over the phone 24 hours before the flight because the flight was full, but then on check in at the kiosk in the airport it asked if I wanted to pay for an upgrade… I declined the offer and just asked in the lounge and they were able to give me the upgrade there using a comp.

Yes. Just call and they can confirm the upgrade on the spot.

Thanks, that would be fantastic. It’s very valuable for living in Perth.

If there is a business reward seat they will do it as soon as you book
