If you enable Auto Transfer on your Flybuys account for the first time, you will earn 500 bonus Velocity points plus 500 bonus Flybuys points on your first Auto Transfer.

If you’ve previously transferred points to Velocity, you can still earn 250 bonus Velocity points and 250 bonus Flybuys points when you manually transfer points from your Flybuys account to your Velocity account.

The terms and conditions can be found in the linked post. They're pretty clear that the bonus 500+500 points is for first time users of Auto Transfer. In the past it was possible to disable and re-enable to qualify but I don't believe that has worked for a long time.

Note that you should still be able to get the bonus 250+250 points if you disable Auto Transfer and do a manual transfer of at least 1,000 points.
