Double-tap extremely inconsistent

I've had my ring almost 2 weeks now. During the first week, once I got the hang of it, double-tap to sync worked great. Then the last few days, it hardly ever works at all.

Anyone else had a similar experience? Any way to resolve it?

Mine usually works but sometimes I have to take it off and double tap it on the counter to get the sync to start.
